Hey King, AMAZING analysis! I think you managed to beat TacticalBaconProductions at God of War thorough analysis XD. Was meaning to find a good summary/analysis of the older games in order to provide context for the Norse Era. So in that lieu i got a favor to ask: can you please make a version WITHOUT Norse Era spoilers? And if not, can i have permission to edit and upload this video (with full credits to you) without the new game spoilers? Either way, thank you very much for the amazing content and keep the quality videos coming, King!
@KingJGrimКүн бұрын
Hey. Glad you liked the video. Always awesome to get praise like this! Will admit, not that comfortable in having someone else uploading my videos with just mere edits done, so I have to be a bit negative and say no to that. As for ME editing it, and uploading a version without the Norse stuff... I simply do not have the tools anymore to make adjustements to this vid, so that would take far too much work, which I could spend making something else. (Which I currently am) So when it is all said and done, only this version, along with the censored one, will exist.

It's so heartbreaking to realize that Vergil was hurt and didn't want to be hurt any more afterwards, so he strived for something that would protect him, to only hurt him more. The fact he only changed because his son established himself and showed Vergil what he could truly be if he was to accept both sides of himself, really says something about how the demon raid by Mundus dug a deep trench for him mentally.

Holy shit, it's so surreal to see so many of my own thoughts and experiences expressed by you. I got into Heroes with Heroes 1, played a lot of Heroes 3, and also played a TON of Heroes IV, and a little of Heroes V. Like you, I fell in love with the AMAZING writing of the Heroes IV campaigns, and I have a big soft heart for IV's weirdness, lol. I'm also happy to see others express the aesthetic concerns. As you note, I also love Warcraft's chunky, cartoony, exaggerated style, but I don't want EVERYTHING to look like that, you know? I've come to realize that a lot of Heroes 1-4's designs were pretty rooted in 70s and 80s fantasy art, especially from DnD, with artists like Parkinson, Elmore, Brothers Hildebrandt and others clearly being a huge influence. A lot of the designs are pretty rooted in classic depictions, where the Elf looks like Errol Flynn playing Robin Hood, or the Dwarf looks like he's out of the Hobbit or even Snow White. I hope things will be toned A LITTLE BIT down, although I understand that some degree of chunkiness is good for readability and distinct silhouettes, and I also understand that exaggerated detailing and decorations are just kinda the current artistic trend in fantasy. Also: we have HEXES back! :D

I agree with you! Though at this point, I'm just excited for a new HoMM game. Been a while, and the least two, while I still enjoyed them, were a bit too similar to one another visually. I love what they doing graphic wise but I agree with you some units should go more in direction of classic heroes. Not everything cartoon has to be exaggerated. In my opinion they should settle down a lot of units design and go more in homm2 direction than homm5 also why I see more female units? I know we live in times where equality is the thing but we need male units as knights and elves too. I looked at some gameplays and it seems the ice town will be some new fraction with creatures like squid and octopus and magical creatures with blue print( a lot of them on adventure maps)

The thing about HoMM's(and M&M's) graphic style is that it is inconsistent between all games. The graphics of the new game are inspired more by the graphics of HoMM 1 and 2 than by 3 and 4.

Except the towns, clearly...
@elveone24 күн бұрын
@@True38 Even the towns to some extend. If you look at the Heroes 2 Knight town you can clearly see how it influenced the Temple in Olden Era in terms of colors and style of the buildings. Of course the HoMM2 town is a lot more basic when it comes to visuals and Olden Era has more exaggerated stylized graphics but the inspiration is clearly visible. Same goes for the Necromancer and Necropolis with the skull on the Castle, the pyramid, the piles of skulls and the vampire mansion that has a slightly clashing style with the rest of the town. Again it is not the same but you can see how one served as an inspiration for the other.

There are 9 major areas on Jadame in Might and Magic 8. Daggerwound Islands - mostly lizardmen live here, so they can make a Fortress faction based here. Ravenshore - big trading port, the dark elf merchant guild is based here, but it has people from every race. Alvar - a city where every race lives there. Garrote Gorge - dragons live here but human dragon hunters have come to fight for control of this area. Could be the base for the Castle/Haven faction. Ironsands Desert - trolls and cyclops live here. Could be the base for the Stronghold/Barbarian faction. Murmurwoods - lots of nature spirits and unicorns here. There's also a sun temple with humans who are at war with necromancers. This could be the base for the Rampart/Druid faction. Shadowspire - necromancers and undead live here. Obviously will be base for Necropolis. Ravage Roaming - lots of beasts above ground but there's a minotaur city underground. Could be the base for Dungeon/Warlocks. Island of Regna - home of the Regnan Pirate Empire. The Cove faction from the fan expansion Horn of the Abyss are based on them. Although Might and Magic 8 didn't show the entire continent of Jadame. So there could be other areas we don't know anything about.
@KingJGrim25 күн бұрын
Super excited for that continent. As mentioned in the vid, I do hope they'll really lean in on the exotic locale.

That is true, sadly as of now, none of the unit designs match the unit designs from the actual game. And the townscreens look nothing like the actual towns from the actual game either, which is a bit sad to be honest. They already have the source material to grab a lot of inspiration from, they just need to update it and put it in 😅

Speaking of style and themes. I fully agree with you that it's an odd choice to use the ubisoft style over the original style. But it's the safe and more creative choice as it's safe to assume that this is what a majority of players think about when they think about heroes now. But i wanted to mention, my favorite style from the original is easily HoMM 2, what an amazing looking game. It's a shame they didn't go in that style. And as much as i love 4, it's artstyle is easily the worst aspect, it's so dirty and comedic. Personally though, i really dislike high fantasy. I'm a human player in every game i touch and i just hate the high fantasy modern warcraft style (Earlier style was fine). The angels is always a perfect test for me to see if the style and theming is something i will enjoy. Are they humble and simply designed or do they make the angels from Diablo 3 blush? It's clearly the second camp this time around. Still, i love that they heavily leaned into using this style and are going the full nine yards, the map looks amazing, the factions look incredibly unique and have personality. This is something that ubisoft Heroes did not have. If you're going high fantasy, go HIGHER fantasy, use all that creative juice to truly make something unique.
@KingJGrim25 күн бұрын
I like both the NWC and Ubisoft styles; but I do prefer and miss the classic look. Also, we don't really get that classic design-focus anymore, so I do feel that it would stand out in a good way.
I used to love HoMM4 so much, it was by far my most favorite of the bunch. But not to long ago i went on a journey to experience all of them, and i mean all of them. Somehow, HoMM4 landed somewhere at the bottom, it's a great game, but it fails to achieve a well put together vision as some of the others, like HoMM 2/3/5. It was strange for me to play it again, even with the Equilibrium mod that bug fixes and balances the game out. It just is a bit of a chaotic mess. Something i personally didn't mind when i was younger, but it's so hard to justify it over the solid experience that is HoMM3 or 5 depending on if you want a dated or modern feel to the game.
@KingOfMadCows25 күн бұрын
Every game after Heroes 3, even the Heroes 3 expansions, had a lot of behind the scenes problems. Heroes 4 was made when the publisher was going bankrupt so it was released in a beta state. Heroes 5 didn't get enough funding or time from Ubisoft. Heroes 6 and 7 had even more budget problems.
@starcraft2own25 күн бұрын
@@KingOfMadCows Yeah i remember that literally every piece of news we got that was heroes related was that nothing was working out. It's a shame that heroes 4 was the product of a studio going bankrupt and heroes 5+ were made with little consideration and hope of success. It explains the mobile direction the series went in afterwards, less budget and possibility of failure.
@KingJGrim25 күн бұрын
I think going into H4 expecting more of the same HoMM is the biggest fall for many people. It feels like a spin-off almost. (Looking past the budget stuff) Though it is through those differences that make it my favourite my a mile. I adore all of them, but 4 is special to me.

I think the game will be moddable too so it will be a game that can be fixed by the players too. Most games are successful because of the moddability. Heroes is also a series what I like a lot and spent thousands of hours in the first 4 (for the one less) but the 2 was my go to after heroes 3 then heroes 4 because of the beautiful musics and the new mechanics. I like when a series try to invent new things but all the heroes games are good in some point even the least liked ones.

Devs have stated that they want the new game to be extremely moddable. Which is awesome.
@sziklamester124425 күн бұрын
@@KingJGrim That's a good thing and that means basically the dlc is not needed which undercut their source of money. Still they can do profitable and player friendly way and there are examples for that. Most Paradox games like CK,EU,HOI,VIC all are moddable yet they add dlcs and packs for the god know why. There are major expansions and tons of dlcs to each title yet the modders can shape and alter the game in their way as I do with them myself. Another good game for modding is Kenshi, Starsector, Mount & Blade, Project Zomboid, Kohan 2. Few examples I modded or modding.
