Well done, but I would trade, "That Which Survives," with, "Spock's Brain." Otherwise, spot on!

The alternative factor isn’t great but it’s not nearly as bad as the Empath-the one episode of TOS I literally can’t sit through, even when I was a kid I turned it off-the real torture of this episode is how excruciatingly boring it is also, Spock’s brain is far worse than the alternative factor. And the negative effect in the Alternstive factor is meant to represent a corridor between two universes-it’s not a great effect but when you are trying to represent a space that is neither normal time or normal space, you don’t have a lot of options in 1966. There’s a logic to it that you don’t acknowledge. And the final scene where Kirk and Spock reflect on good Lazarus’ sacrifice-spending eternity fighting his opposite-to save two universes is affecting. I also don’t agree with you about the batting average. TNG has plenty of bad episodes-though the worst of them aren’t as bad as the worst of TOS-and I gave up on DS9 when Cisco became a prophet-a total abandonment of the ST commitment to humanism. Also, TOS had more of the great Star Trek episodes than any other show. One could say of the original series that when it was good, it was very very good and when it was bad, it was terrible.

Again, just your opinion. 'But" at least we agree one of them "Q Who" is definitely one of my favorites. But I've seen so many videos by people like you trying to tell people like me what episodes I should and should not like. But it's my own fault because I continue to watch them, knowing i'm going to get pissed off.

My comment is, I'm glad these are just "Your Opinion" I pretty much enjoyed all them. But that's because I'm a true trek fan. And have been for 55 yrs. My guess is you are not a true fan. But now I am curious to see what your 5 favorite episodes are.

"The Alternative Factor" is a complete abomination and is surely the worst single episode in the entire franchise.

Hopefully you two find a way to continue this podcast because both of you are always a fun listen but also very informative too. Sean thing you mention at the beginning about playing video games for a long time and then thinking about how real life can be like that. When I worked at Gamestop we called that the Tetris Effect. Play Tetris for longer than 15 minutes and you would start to see those exact same blocks in all kinds of patterns all around you especially if you have a tile floor.

I hate this episode. Yet another group of annoying people who insist that the MCs join their cult, and ignore all pleas for common sense. The idea of people coming together by rejecting technology also seems unbelievable to me. Unless they volunteered to be there, I don't see any reason the inhabitants would refuse technological assistance. They should have made the people more religious and extreme. Zero aliens, zero relevance to the rest of the series, and the ending literally has two kids looking at the departing Star Trek officers like, "WTF, you mean I gotta stay here and live with these idiots?"

I hate the ending because #1: they already had an episode where they identified a clone was a clone; #2: If they suspected him so much that even his own wife treated him like garbage I find it unbelievable that they would even alow the clone to have that much access to the station; and #3: they explained everything in literally 1 minute.

My personal underrated favorites in no order : "Obsession" (Kirk in an Ahab role is just a damn good episode) "Wolf in the Fold" (great murder mystery episode) "Spectre of the Gun" (just a damn good episode) "The Tholian Web" (great on screen performances from Kelley and Nimoy) "Metamorphosis" (Another good episode) "The Galileo Seven" (underrated episode) "The Ultimate Computer" (shows the dangers of rogue technology) "The Changeling" (brilliant episode showing the dangers of having "imperfections") " Court Martial " (Kirk on trial and his command style in question, underrated episode) "The Conscience of the King" (IMO, underrated. Especially love the scene where Kirk tries to get a confession out of Karidian. Albert Moss is perfect in that episode.) "Errand of Mercy" (First appearance of Klingons, come on.) "Day of the Dove" (an underrated episode of Season 3.) I have other favorites too. The more popular ones. But, I still feel the above mentioned episodes are pretty good too.

The worst episodes in my opinion, in no particular order: The Alternative Factor(just, no. Lazarus switching back and forth was too confusing) The Omega Glory(boooooring.) The Apple(not that interesting) And the Children Shall Lead(genuinely ridiculous) Spock's Brain(kind of mixed. It's a so bad, it's hilarious episode.) The Way to Eden(space hippies, how fun.) The Mark of Gideon(Kirk not recognizing the replica of his own ship? Come on now.)

Hard watch? You call yourself a Star Trek fan but can't appreciate the BEST and original Trek? As good as Next Gen and Deep space nine and Voyager are, none of the sequel series topped the iconic legacy and characters of the original series.

Padma Lakshmi was prominent at the time , so I guess that's why she scored the job. But her acting skills were extremely subpar. She had a nearly immobile face , a dead line delivery , all the marks of an untrained actor. Other models have tried acting with varying degrees of success , but some never learn that acting involves more skill than just standing around looking pretty. Your comparison to the OG Trek episode "Elann of Troius" occurred to me too , as the "spoled princess" characters are nearly identical ; the resemblance between France Nguyen & Padma Lakshmi is extremely close as well. The only difference is Ms. Nguyen had actual acting skills and made it work.

For Battass to continue, I imagine it would need things to cover that are fun for Clay and Sean. For Batman-specific material: some of the live-action movies, your favorite comics/stories, the NES video game. I am sure the fans will enjoy you guys stepping outside of Batman to cover other things like the TMNT movie, favorite comic book artists (please do Kelley Jones), music episodes, etc. You guys have great banter and it feels like you genuinely have fun chatting together. I hope the podcast lives on.

The City on the Edge of Forever got the consensus of votes as best. My choice is still the Doomsday Machine, which was voted number one by at least one of the popular critics: Newsweek. It shows up in the top five with most critics.

The lack of continuity between 2nd and 3rd season was a little jarring. Maybe I was watching rather loosely but in season 2 the borg are just misunderstood and become the federations allies, so I was waiting for both juradi and or Wesley crusher as an all powerful time cop to show up somewhere to make a connection to season 2.

The Alternative Factor was a troubled script that the production team knew they should never have commissioned and was held back until the end of the season because they struggled to edit it in any way that made sense. Having said that, I think several Season 3 episodes, most especially And The Children Shall Lead - in which all the characters seem to have no idea about their characters, plus terrible child actors, an appalling guest performance from a non actor, and to top it all it ends with Kirk abandoning 2 security guards left on the planet surface.
