Thats interesting you need permits to drive the highway in Australia ! Sounds like covid bs when you were not allowed to cross the boarder. Quit an adventure well documented thanks.

Why cut chains? Just set to required link, you need to add couple of hammerlocks to towbar points for mawby hooks red receiver

Normally we wouldn’t need to cut but chain as none of my shackles would fit through! Small links work with the Mawby Hooks

I found that both of my caravans were heavier than I expected them to be when I got them weighed. The first van needed some mods for an ATM increase and a new compliance plate. I also found that I was almost at my Ranger’s GCM with no passengers and the tub almost empty. When we emptied the van to sell it there was a lot of stuff that we didn’t need and this didn’t go into the new van. I now have an Isuzu NPS and with a van that weighs 3.6T I have capacity to spare. However when I weighed it the van was still several hundred kg more than I expected it would be. I think a professional weigh service is great - particularly if you are close to the limit or don’t know what the numbers mean. However, don’t let the cost be an excuse not to get your setup weighed. There are plenty of free or low cost weighbridges available. My local concrete recyclers will weigh you for free and many public weighbridge only charge a small amount - I was weighed in one place for $10.
@susanberry376029 күн бұрын
We have used Go Weigh Weighbridge a number of times and for around $60.00 we also get the same read out you received. Pity you didn't let us know what you weights were .
@happycampersaustralia28 күн бұрын
Unfortunately the Go Weigh will not give you an idea on axle loadings and Left to Right loadings, just an overall weight.
@susanberry376028 күн бұрын
@happycampersaustralia actually it gives a combined weight, individual weight of tow and caravan and axles weights. The only one It doesn't gives is side to side weights.
@garybrown152628 күн бұрын
@@susanberry3760does it give tow ball weight?

Hey Glenn, watched your weigh video. Would love to know if you have GCM /GVM upgrade on Ranger and how much water on board the van. You don’t mention weights. You mentioned fully loaded van? We have a new Digger and about to have weighed and thinking full load of water and every thing will push us over. 🤷♂️

Weighed our set up today and with full tanks had 296kg ball weight and was 34kg over my vehicle gvm so we don’t have to move too much around, still have 400 left in the van.

Hi guys, we enjoyed your episode. We are currently in the process of getting a Lovell's suspension upgrade, we have just bought a new Ford Ranger Platinum, which will give us 4 tonne and we're also getting a BTC upgrade by Lovell's with a Brake towing capacity of 4 tonne. Our combined GCM will be 8 tonne which was originally 6400. Our caravan will be an Urban Xtreme which will be about the same size and possible around the same weight as yours. We are getting built, so we don't have it yet. We are putting a Concept Canopy of the back of the Ranger as well. Just thought we'd share 😄 Happy travelling, Happy Campers xx
@happycampersaustralia29 күн бұрын
Hi guys, Lovells upgrades go to 3.7t not 4.0, unless something has changed very recently.
@FarmersLifeUnscripted27 күн бұрын
@happycampersaustralia yes correct, we will be the first ones with the new upgrade 😉 we have been talking to Lovell's for quite some time, waiting until we could have this.

@FarmersLifeUnscripted16 күн бұрын
Hi guys, wanted to update you on our situation. Since we commented previously, we have had our car at Lovell's for over a month now waiting for the newest of upgrades, unfortunately for us they have had a few more issues with the new 4000t GVM (something to do with tyre testing) so it won't be available until Feb, a bit too long for us to wait so we went ahead and this is what we ended up getting .. @happycampersaustralia
Why go bigger and heavier. Extra running costs and limited access to remote areas 😢
@happycampersaustralia28 күн бұрын
Our single axle was always too close to the tyre and axle limit, so concessions had to be made!
@susanberry376027 күн бұрын
@@NielsSorensen-sh8tm We are going in the other direction, downsizing from 19.6 to either 16 or 17', but we don't live in ours full-time. Its not only the running costs its also the added wear and tear on the tow vehicle.
