I love this sound!. Your pronunciation is a joy, and to hear the boys' energy and togetherness along with your countertenor's beautiful, strong voice is a wonderful thing. Thank you.

I am sorry I did not get to hear you a few weeks ago in London. I think both you and the boys at Roden are as good as any boys choir we have here. I will have to come and hear you in the Netherlands. I have heard the latter guys at Rochester with your shared touring organist Sander: nice guy and a great player.

Could only manage to see you at St. Paul’s this year, but as always a lovely service with the Purcell anthem well sung by the young soloists. Thanks again. Very interesting video made with genuine enthusiasm.

What a wonderful experience it is for boys to sing in such an excellent choir. It's a great tradition and something we must encourage. Some of the happiest times of my life were spent as a cathedral chorister.

I find it admirable, how much you appreciate and practice the tradition of the English boy's choir. Your sound is truly great, with volume and precision. Actually, there aren't that many college or cathedral choirs in England that consist of men and boys only, anymore. Either they mix with girls or, if they have a boy treble line, the alto part is sung by women. That's really concerning, because the all-male choir seems to die out. Ironically, foreigners seem to be aware of the value of the English all-male choir more than the English people are themselves, who cease a tradition of many hundreds of years from one moment to the other without even blinking and celebrating this as a historic step, which it is indeed, but to the worse. Therefore, be proud that you keep up this precious tradition, against the trends.

So true. I find it incredible that the serial destruction of centuries'-old musical foundations that were acorns to the oak of the West's musical development should occur without barely a whimper of protest. Did it matter that these choirs were boys and men? Being so constituted forced these institutions to be pedagogical hothouses in order to train the young singers to the requisite level of mastery to sing God's words ... and that intensity drove "Cambrian explosion" of the polyphonic musical development 15th and 16th centuries. There would have been no reason to stick with girls on the top line, and such hypothetical girls' / men's choirs would have quickly evolved to being simply adult mixed-voice. As well, see psychologist Roy Baumeister on the notable gender difference when it comes, not to musical talent, but motivation to improvise. Key inflection points in musical development -- 15th-century England (as in the Eton Choirbook) and 20th-century blues -- emerged in part from such intense male-group dynamics.
