My husband worked in a machine shop for a decade and was covered in transmission fluid and oil daily. I used my homemade detergent, very similar to yours, and a cup of ammonia in his work clothes. They came out without any scent of oil or fluids or any stains on his clothes everytime. Never failed. Just dont inhale the ammonia. Tell your mom to stop using Tide! Ammonia is like 2 dollars a bottle.

@GrayDuckDIYs You and your family are so welcome, by the way If you have transmission fluid or oil on your driveway and you need it gone, take the same 2 Lt of Coke cola and baking soda, thoroughly with water, pour the coke and sprinkle the baking soda on it wait a few minutes before you scrub it with a stiff brush, rinse it with water, you may need to repeat the process again but it will come clean Respectfully yours, Donna Lane Kingman Az

I use almost all of the same ingredients except the laundry bar of soap instead of that I use Down liquid dish washing detergent the one with the duck on it. Many DIY home laundry detergent recipes are more or less the same. It depends on your washing machine. It depends if you are hand washing your clothing. It depends if someone is allergic to one of the ingredients. It depends on how you want your laundry to smell like. It depends on how much money you can afford to buy the ingredients. BORAX OXICLEAN Laundry baking soda Regular baking soda Kosher salt Dawn dishwashing detergent Zote Fels-Naptha And many other types of soap. It also depends on how dirty and how stained your clothing get. But I think this is a very nice laundry detergent recipe. I did use the exact recipe years ago. Now I use regular store bought Tide OxiClean and regular Tide in my washing machine only with some white vinegar. And I use my Down dishwashing detergent recipe for my hand wash laundry only with some white vinegar. One cup to two cups of Down liquid dishwashing soap the one with the duck. 1/2 cup of OxiClean. 1/2 Borax. 1/2 cup laundry baking soda. 1/2 cup regular baking soda. 1/3 cup kosher salt. 1/3 cup of lavender fabric crystals or lavender fabric beads to give your clothing a good small. 1/3 cup of white vinegar for each load of laundry. A wooly ball with some pure essential oil to substitute your dryer for dryer sheets. I use a glass spray bottle. Some witch hazel. Some pure essential oil like lavender and tea tree oil. Mix it and add it to the glass spray bottle. Shake it when you need to use it on the wooly ball and spray one or three times on to it before placing it in with your clothing to dry. I absolutely love to hang dry my clothes outside even in the winter time as long as it is not raining or snowing. And I hand wash many of my clothing each and every. Saves on energy and it makes my clothing even more cleaner by hand washing. But every family is different and every person is different and it is up you to decide what works. And I absolutely hate any dry laundry detergent because mainly it does not dissolve well in the washing machine I prefer liquid laundry detergent. If I do buy dry laundry detergent from the store I prefer to dissolve it in hot water before using it.

All of these ingredients are used in stripping the laundry detergent from your clothing which causes your clothing to lose their colors.😮 Add all of these ingredients together does not do a good job in washing your laundry in my opinion.😮 And I hate any dry laundry detergent because they stick to your clothing as well as to the washing machine.😮 Personally prefer name brand liquid laundry detergent 1 tbsp for small loads and 2 tablespoon for large loads.😍 Some vinegar with some pure essential oil as my fabric softener but not too much because it can cause damage to your machine .😮 A wooly ball with some pure essential oil for my dryer and i am very happy.😍 All of these types of DIY dry laundry detergent have too many unnecessary ingredients and really don't do a good job and cleaning your clothing and making them really small good.😮 I tried these recipes it just does not work for me it also gave my daughter a bad skin irritation.😮 Also many of these ingredients can damage your washing machine by weakening the belt which goes around the barrel causes it to break.😮 So homemade is not always a good idea.😮 This is my opinion.🤔 This might work for some people but will not work for everyone.🤔

✨What a fun video! I make my own laundry detergent, too, so I'm always curious how others make theirs. My recipe is similar and also includes Fels-Naptha. I love it! However, I don't have a large blender, so I found another way instead of grating it up that's easier on your hands--especially if you have arthritis. I thought I'd share it, and maybe it could help someone else. 🧼I cut up the bar of soap like you showed, and then I place it in a microwave-safe dish and heat it at 20-30 second increments. This makes the soap chunks expand because of the tiny air pockets in the soap. Depending on your microwave, you shouldn't have to heat it too long. I usually heat one bar for about two and a half to three minutes with stirring to watch out for hot spots. Then, when it's no longer expanding with the heat (don't burn it), take it out of the microwave and allow it to cool. Once it's cool, put all the chunks in a Ziploc bag so you can crush it with your hands. Basically, heating it made the soap brittle, and it will crumble up very nicely for you in the Ziploc bag. Yes, it's kinda like crushing up Ritz crackers for a casserole topping! I usually sit and watch something on TV while I work on crumbling my soap into a powder. It can be relaxing, honestly. 🥣The recipe itself is very simple: I bar Fels-Naptha prepared as above, and 1 Cup each of Baking Soda, Washing Soda, and Borax. I only make laundry detergent in small batches for myself, so I don't make large amounts. I just measure the ingredients into a large mixing bowl and stir with a large mixing spoon since it's a smaller amount than what you made in the video. You could easily double/triple this, of course. 🧺This makes about 4 Cups, and you would use 2 Tbsp in a traditional top loader or 1 Tbsp in an HE machine. I do use scent boosters and oxy clean, but I just add those separately in the amounts I want for that specific load. I like being able to customize what I'm using that way, but putting it all in together works, too. 😷Also, thank you for mentioning that you should be careful when making your laundry detergent and creating large clouds of dust; some videos actually show people just dumping boxes of ingredients--so unnecessary and dangerous! We don't need to be afraid of these ingredients, but we should respect what they are. I have never felt the need to wear a mask, and I don't suggest it. But one should consider whether they would dump a large container of store-bought powdered detergent or another cleaner like that? Of course not! It's simply irresponsible. You should have no more of a dust cloud or mess of any kind than you would making a cake, and the area should be cleaned thoroughly to make sure no cleaning agents are left behind to get into food later if you make your detergent in the kitchen. 🙏💖Anyway, I wanted to offer another way to deal with the soap bars without harming arthritic hands. I've been using my recipe (very similar to this one) for years, and I don't have any issues with dingy clothes or build-up in my machine. Anyone who tries your recipe should be very happy! Thanks again for a fun video! What a blessing to have girlfriends that are like family! God bless y'all!

Though it’s good and cheaper to make your own laundry detergent, many don’t understand that the modern HE machines will get broken using them. Towels will start not being absorbent and clothes will be dingy. This is caused be the soap that produces scum in the machine. Unfortunately, machine manufacturers forces us to buy products with their partner companies that make detergent, so it might not be cheaper if you need to buy a new laundry machine sooner?
@GrayDuckDIYs
@GrayDuckDIYs Жыл бұрын
That’s exactly why I use this recipe and use my blender to mix it. All of the soap dissolved in the water and doesn’t leave that film that would eventually build up and clog the machine. The oxy helps fight that issue too. 🥰
