When I was in the 82nd Airborne in 1972 we had an officer just like Haulk. When I saw "Good morning Vietnam " All those memories came back... I laughed and laughed. Now I feel sorry for the little prick.

Although he was initially discouraged after his brief, disastrous stint at the Armed Forces Radio Network in Vietnam, Steven Hauk never abandoned his dream of becoming a beloved radio personality. After being honorably discharged from the Army in 1970, Hauk used the GI Bill to enroll at the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned his bachelor's degree in communications in 1974. The following year, Hauk landed a job at WPOG-FM (later rebranded as Lite Rock 94.1), the number two adult contemporary station in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where the warm, lighthearted banter of "Steve and Frenchy in the Morning" kept the housewives and office receptionists of Scranton and Wilkes-Barre entertained for the next 40 years.
