I wish I knew more about this stuff, the tech is always complicated. Other than study YT vids like crazy (which I do already), what's the one thing most beginners don't do that they should, or should do more of? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I would say 1. Try to not just copy and paste your Drum or Melody patterns throughout the whole beat. This can make it repetitive. 2. Export melody to audio, so that you can reverse and chop the sample even more 2. Copy your favorite producers drum patterns or chord progressions to learn some good ways to make beats. Or try to remake beats to the best of your ability.
