kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5Tbhmt_qbl3i6csi=5zRNm0CkuAOc_GwO&t=146 To remove the belt you must set to the slowest speed first, which you do right, but what you are missing is that after stopping the motor, you must set it to the highest speed to pull the spindle pulleys apart again. That releases the tension which you otherwise must fight.

there are 3 retaining clips on the spindle pully side.. Mainly if you dont put that "snap ring" on the end of the spindle shaft it will push that pulley right off.. Don't ask how I know.

Thank you for showing this. I, too, have a Grizzly G0555LX and 2 years old that started making that exact sound. I'm going to tighten my drive wheel when I go to my shop and hopefully that'll work. You are the only one that I've found that addresses this issue.

8 years later, your video has helped me and my team to repair our lathe. Ours is an older discontinued Grizzly model, but the mechanisms are identical. Grizzly tech support was great, but your video helped fill in some gaps. Thank you!

Could you change the lowest speed on these by making different sized pulleys?
@kempie428 ай бұрын
Anyone know the size of that bearing? Mine was starting to get noisy and I greased it, however being that it’s a lathe and lots of dust, I like the idea of a sealed bearing. Bonus points for a part number!

If you need a new variable speed pulley, Speed Selector makes pulleys that replace the Reeves, Hi-Lo, TB Woods and Lovejoy pulleys that went out of business or got bought. Most are in stock or Speed Selector will custom make if needed. They have an actual engineering department; very helpful.

Did you put a cover over the fan in the winter
@knotnowwoodworking10 ай бұрын
No, I just watched for leaks and never had any. I wasn't too concerned about cold air coming in, I had a heater in the garage. And besides, I only did limited work in the winter (detached garage with no insulation).

Does the 2x2" hubless (flexible) coupling fit the 2.5" diameter dust port? Or does it need to be a 2.5" flexible coupling? Thanks!
@knotnowwoodworking11 ай бұрын
I don't have the jointer anymore, but I'm pretty sure it was the 2x2 hubless coupling that fit the 2.5" port. If you buy it at Home Depot, there's no problem returning it if I'm not remembering correctly. Plumbing sizes are nominal, hardly anything measures the same as the rated size.

It's not as powerful as I thought it would be, but it works very well. kzbin.infoUgkxGjG43--gYqIoT4Xkur2PqCrtbKwTv2h6 There are three options to circulate air, and best of all a remote control for us lazy people. Installation was a breeze (no pun intended). It actually took longer to open the box then it did putting the side extenders on and sitting it in the window opening. It's a perfect alternative when you want airflow, but not the AC. Just might order another one for a different room. UPDATE: Bought another one like I said. They work great. Why not have two...

Very Helpful video as I attempt a similar feat with my 2 car detached garage in SC. Did you happen to have a thermometer in your shop pre-fan and post fan? Wondering just what kind of temp difference it made. I might hook mine up to a XMAS lights timer so it goes on for 5-10 minutes every couple hours during the day.
@knotnowwoodworking Жыл бұрын
No, I never checked the temps, but could feel the air flow in the shop, which also helped with the air quality. Thanks for the comment.

Ive had to do that job twice on my lathe. Different brand, basicslly tge same lathe. I really dislike tge reeves drive system as Ive constantly had problems with it jamming. Ive got to service the *#*@#* thing again...and am thinking of throwing those pulleys out and harvesting a set of pulleys from a cheap.old drill press that will hopefully fit. Then Ill add a cheap speed controller to it for the infrequent times i need to use a slower speed than fixed pulleys can provide. Whoever designed the system should be sh0t.

I have a question about your dust collection setup. I just got this jointer and want to hook the dust port up to my 2.5” shop vacuum hose. You mentioned that you used a 2” x 2” flexible coupler to connect the two. Won’t the coupler be too small (specifically by 0.5”) to get the mouth of the coupler over the 2.5” dust port? I am trying to do the same setup on my jointer so any advice or help would be greatly appreciated?
@knotnowwoodworking Жыл бұрын
A 2"x2" flex coupler is intended for a 2" nominal pipe. The pipe does't really measure 2", it's larger, so it fits the shop vac and jointer just fine. Ok, I just went and measured to be sure. The fitting on my 2.5" shop vac hose is just under 2.25". The flex coupler is just over 2.25", so it fits fine.
