I think from memory one of England’s goals was scored with just 3 touch’s of the ball ? Obviously the Dutch were a far superior team but it just shows you the difference in the football philosophies of different countries around the world !

They were a very good team and the total football worked, that’s what Ajax played they won The Champions League in the 90s the following year they played Juventus as reigning holders Juventus kicked the living daylights out of them and won that was total football out the window.

The truth is, many international teams up to a point, adopted this way of playing. This is partly why England often looked so lost playing decent teams, even some half decent teams - because they were adopting, to a certain extent, this way of playing. It took England decades to get up to speed. We have only really seen it over the last 7-8 years. Watch some of England games with Scholes, Gerrad and Lampard - they would often lose the ball.

People, you know this kind of futbol was invented in Argentina right? Lets not fool ourselves. Ever heard of “la maquina”? River plate? Probably not, its just marketing. Thats when it was really born. Maybe check some of the players from that team. And consider argentina didnt play that world cup because of their own decision. So, there it is, how it really was.

Oh my God, can Argentines not make themselves the centre of everything? If we look back the style of that Rovers was a copy of the Austro-Hungarians in the 1930s and it was an archaic form of this type of game, total football the real one was born in the Netherlands in the 1960s, all that comes before are just archaic simplifications, very far away from real total football...

@@santiago85 Point one everything i said is true, the River didn't invent anything at all, light years away from Cruijff's total football, you've never seen a single game of that World Cup except maybe a two minute video and that's it, I won't explain again how much they revolutionised football to those who don't want to understand, you know nothing about that football and this is proven by your lack of knowledge of Austrian and Hungarian football prior to the overrated River, in fact point two: I was not referring to AustriaHungary as a united empire (I am Italian, live on the border and know the geopolitical history of the areas better than you do) but to the football movement in Austria and Hungary in the 1930s, never heard of Sarosi, Deak, Zsengeller, Orth, Nyers, Takacs, Szusza, Sindelar, Bican, Schaal, Binder, Hiden, Sesta, Smistik... all footballers who played as River long before River itself, so don't try to be such a professor that you know nothing about football history...

Definitely in the 70s soccer used to be slow and the players seemed to be tallers with very long legs or may be because shorts were really short well jogging shorts not like today that looks like bermudas, the defense of the team is so numb

@@sandervanderwel Thought I'd comment some more sh%T, sorry I forgot 36yrs ago & their 1 cup vs USSR. I just watched some of their games involving back passing to the goalie who picks it up & i know it was a different time where 8 lads chasing the ball at once like school kids in a stampede, different offside laws & players spitting on opponents faces was considered beautiful total football, seems an awful amount of hype for Holland, Cruyff's best games to watch were at club level but thats just more poo i guess!! That world cup final vs germany was great & funny all at once, dewi

@@russell-di8jsSince results are the only thing that matters, tell me what you've won in life, what goals you've achieved, I bet you're just a failed man who maybe still lives with his parents and has a shitty job, Cruijff won four champions league and three golden balls, you? Who the fuck are you? sure you haven't seen half a game of him, not even of the 1974 world cup, you've only seen videos of the offside trap and you're convinced that they played 90 minutes all running after the ball, but it's not like that, it was adopted not very frequently and for the rest the team play is The movements in the field of the players influenced the game to come, if you knew anything about football you'd understand the beauty of that game, and even if they stole the World Cup from them four years later in 1978 it doesn't mean anything, because if Barcelona have won so much today it's mainly thanks to the three Dutchmen who went to Barcelona in 1974, and the same goes for City and so many other teams in modern football, I repeat the question, who the fuck are you? Failed man...
