Hi, thank you for your educating all. I was wondering if you’ve ever come across someone in a mva, blew 0.0 and was taken to the hospital for shuttered mental status. Bc I’m on a med that I took two days prior, it will show up as a metabolite. I was so alarmed I took myself to the hospital next day; worried I had a tia but came to find I had a uti and was admitted for iv abx. How can I bring attention to government that automatically work m give a dui regardless of the small amt of metabolite present. Thank you

Can these come and go in a type of episode like manor? And how long does something like this tend to last?
@angelagendreau35862 ай бұрын
I don't know as a rule but my husband had a car accident and he was doing decerebrate posturing and it lasted for a couple seconds. Like one movement shown. Then a little while and he'd do it again. It wasn't over and over frequently. He'd do it too when he was having a pain response. It lasted until he died.

Every medical director that I have worked with is perfectly OK with limb leads on the torso. The discrepancy between limb leads on the limbs vs. the torso are inconsequential. If you are responding to a suspected MI, or any cardiac, you're going to do a 12 lead anyway, where you ARE going to place limb leads on the limbs. 3 leads are only meant for routine cardiac monitoring, not for definitive diagnosis of STEMI or ischemia. I have never seen patients in the ED with limb leads on the limbs for 3 leads, It just doesn't happen, at least where I am.

Thanks for the video, this is the most informative video on this subject i have seen on youtube. You really go into the nuances of this. The reason i found it was because it the video of high school girls fighting and getting her head bashed against the asphalt out of hazelwood east highschool. I believe she was showing signs of this phenomon on the video. Very useful knowledge to know when someone is in big trouble and it is a fascinating phenomenon, subbed

Can confirm you nailed this. Had sepsis a few years back from a kidney infection rapid onset took a nap feeling crappy woke up dying. Having a fever of 104-106 does some weird shit to your mental faculties I kept swinging between “I’m fine stop poking at me” and some variation of thrashing around once my Brain started processing how NOT fine everything was😅

Had a 3 year old today, recent pyrexia and vomiting. Now non verbal today, not responding normally. Low blood sugar, responded poorly to Hypostop gel and Glucagon.Looking up to the corner. Grunting type breathing. Then began to posture decerebate then decorticate. Was intubated at hospital with suspected meningitis. Not good.

@@MedicMaterials It's cool you still respond to comments on a vid over a year old! You're providing valuable information and I hope you feel gratification in educating people the world over. I live in the UK, I have been unconscious before (head injury) and have seen peoppe unconscious before, but recently saw a video of someone all tensed up like how you explained it, so I decided to Google it... Found out the name of the phenomenon, then typed it in to KZbin and watched your video. You should know that at least one person in the UK is slightly more knowledgeable and prepared in a worse case scenario, because of you. Good work! 👍🏻

I appreciate anyone who takes the time to watch my videos. So the least I can do is reply to a comment. Doesn't matter how old. Glad you got something out of it. That's the best way to compliment what we do making these videos and the podcast.

Those are very interesting to get put in and lay with fully awake. They don't hurt, fit perfectly on top of the tounge. They slide around pretty easily but it feels impossible to get it further down. They doesn't put uncomfortable pressure anywhere. Swallowing will make spit enter the OPA tube instead of going down the stomach. Also swallowing won't force the OPA out, but keep it placed correctly. (NPA's will get pushed out by swallowing) If we ignore the gag reflex they are amazing. And just a tip from a figurent: if a figurent is between 2 sizes, choose the smaller one. Those sre more comfortable. And for the figurent, lay with the opening pointing down. Thst way spit will come out of the tube. The hole is large enough for you not to inhale too much spit but just let it flow out
