Great review. I can't get enough of mine, had it since launch. I find myself choosing the Pelagos over the Sub no-date to wear, the titanium is just so comfortable and light. A killer watch for sure! The lume is also what impresses me, on the beach at night, this thing lights up like a torch!

I wonder... is the Rush series of Packs as comfy as people say? I'm looking at the Rush 12
@CrownAndMainspring4 күн бұрын
@@JC-wj3hx I have the Rush 12 and used it to travel many years. It’s comfortable IMO. But I guess that subjective and depends on the person.

A bit small for me to wear but one of the best proportioned watches IMO. Fun fact. It was Tudors first 21mm lug width watch (which is why it looks so great). Pretty much all the reviewers at the time failed to notice this though, and many said it was 20mm. My AD sent me a picture and first thing I said to him was that it was 21mm.
@CrownAndMainspring5 күн бұрын
This is so true. & The most minor, most silliest of detail is absolutely most important. I remember i saw one of the engineers/ designers speak in an interview on YT, (before i buy it) about the design for this, and they had to go with 21mm lug on this case size to achieve the symmetry that they were looking for. Thanks for the fun fact. Didn't know it was the first..
@wristopia41014 күн бұрын
@@CrownAndMainspring I used to sell Tudors (own far too many too) and when it was launched we had a web chat with Tudor UK HQ. The head honcho said to ask him questions after the presentation so I asked for confirmation it was 21mm lug width (as I had only seen a photo). He had to check and get back to me. I think lug dimensions are far too important to ignore, and a big area that designs fail. I have quite a few 21mm lug width and the watches would look silly if 20 or 22mm. KZbinrs are obsessed with badmouthing 21mm though 🙄
@CrownAndMainspring4 күн бұрын
@@wristopia4101 Absolutely , i see a lot of un-needed attention. Not sure why such bad press is given to 21mm in recent videos ive seen. & to be honest, they have existed for many years now. I have a watch thats 20 yrs old with 21mm. Nothing new.
@wristopia41013 күн бұрын
@@CrownAndMainspring It's because people have cheap 20mm straps that are incompatible, but mainly it's a vicious circle of KZbinrs and commenters wanting to sound knowledgable and relevant.
@mjdm19253 күн бұрын
The 21mm and 19mm badmouthing is because a lot of KZbinrs run a small shop selling straps and they are either forced to carry more inventory or not able to shill their own stores😂).

I have a vintage 1680 I bought used at a gun show years ago, beautiful piece. I never wear it as I'm in a trade and for one, too showy when selling my wares, and second, it's big with exposed crown, I'd beat it up in my daily work. But like other coveted items, such as coins, or guns, ownership is 9/10ths of the enjoyment. imo
@CrownAndMainspring3 жыл бұрын
Thats a nice piece. Ownership and access to see your collection as you wish is a great part of it yes!! I collect pistols and coins as well. But the coin is more private IMO. vs the element of being able to wear a watch and enjoy, or using a pistol at the range for example so i think those elements add to enjoyment as well.

You had allot of good points to make about your watch. I would only say that you didn't touch on the emotion value of passing such a valuable asset to your son one day as a keep sake. Men, unlike woman, have very few keepsake's that develop a person history all their own, unique to that particular item, that one watch, which at one time belonged to you, that you, and you alone assigned to them. In other words when he wears it, he is taking and wearing a very real and very personal piece of you on his wrist. So years after you are gone you, in a very personal way, you still live. This is something you can't do with something that was cheap and expendable. To your son It had value then and it has even more value now.

for me: no an invicta pro diver, Seiko sea urchin, or SKX series does the exact same thing while looking near identical. not to mention the plethora of other brands that have similar styled watches that you can buy NEW, without having to be on a 1-2 year waiting list. and you won't cry about it if some pillhead rolls you for it, I couldn't say the same for a $7k-$8k watch.

Excellent review!! This is my first Rolex and I’m very pleased with it. Was a gift from my wife and to my surprise she went above and beyond my expectations. My usual EDC is either a Citizen Eco-Drive Nighthawk or Garmin Fenix 3 depending on if I’m on duty or off. Not sure I’m as brave as you when it comes to turning wrenches with this thing on, but It’s assuring to know that it’s rugged enough to maintain harsh environments!! Plus, my wife would probably knife hand me if she saw me under the hood with it on lol. Anyways ‘ thanks for the info and details on this awesome time piece! Stay safe and Much Respect from Rockwall, Texas!!

I don’t baby my ceramic sub date. I clean it with Vareat cleaner and brush. DavidSW is a good indy seller. I got mine from Takuya online. Used they come with 1 year from vendor. Depending on what year your watch is you have the remainder from Rolex. Mine come with full 5 year since it’s almost a new watch. You also get 3-5 days to inspect depending on vendor or dealer. You can bring it to any Rolex AD and they will evaluate your watch for you this way you know for sure it’s real and you can use that cert to insure your watch.

The New incarnation of the Rolex sub is big and flashy. This is a new position for Rolex as the pre maxi case Subs were much more understated.
