What about when there are more than 2 third tones in a sentence like 3 times or 4 times ???
@WangXinxin_Mandarine5 күн бұрын
in three-character words, we analyze the internal meaning relationship between the three characters. for example, in 展览馆zhǎnlǎn guǎn (exhibition hall), 展览zhǎnlǎn is a meaningful word when put together, so the structure is ab-c. means 展览zhǎnlǎn (ab) follows the tone sandhi rule for two third tones, changing to 2+3. The third character馆guǎn (c), remains in the third tone.you can refer to pronunciation part at the back of hsk 2 textbook

yeah i agree, and people like to use "inverted sentences" in real conversations, which is putting important information atthe beginning of the sentence... There are modal particles, and the tone of speaking... Hahahaha, it's really hard to understand(sometimes la)!

Should the X sound be closer to S or SH? Native speakers sound like their X is closer to an S than a SH.
@WangXinxin_Mandarine14 күн бұрын
Wow, this is quite details question! the "X" sound is like between English "S" and "SH."it’s softer than "SH" and doesn't involve the tongue fully curling back as in an English "SH" sound. the tongue is closer to the front of the mouth, sound is close to "S," but it’s not! but when pronouncing pinyin like this in Chinese, it’s more about where your tongue is. with these consonants as initials, there’s barely any sound by themselves; the real pronunciation comes from the vowel sounds that follow them. hope my explanation helps you!

Wait wut... There was another vid about this and it was stated that the first one was used if you already know something is about to happen (will, can, will not, cannot) and the second one was used when you predict something (might, may) but here its vice versa...
@WangXinxin_Mandarine28 күн бұрын
i guess the problem is confusion might be about the difference in how '会' and '能' are used. when they're expressing 'permission,' it can create the situation you mentioned. the way Chinese words are used can change depending on different contexts or specific conditions, which can be confusing. i hope my explanation helps you!

就要 and 快要 also seem like clues that 要 is closer (in time) than 会(?)
@WangXinxin_MandarineАй бұрын
yes, sometimes we also use '就会,' it usually follows a condition, like: 'If you're late to work, they’ll dock your pay.' this sentence doesn’t mean it will happen right away.

Hello. There is writing mistake at 2:47. "那么久没见他,他长高了" should be "we didn't see each other for long time, you'd grown taller" (I think), instead of "the school is so close, you don't need to drive".
