. saludos

Thanks for this! I've tried every single method and this seems most effective. Doesn't work 100% though, I find slugs are more likely to beat the system, as snails just sink and drown if they fall in but slugs, especially the big fat ones if they fall in find their way to the side and slither up. My dahlia is still alive because I used this way though. I've been buying wide deep circular trays and then put an upside side jar or pot or small brick in middle to act as the platform. I'm glad you are creating something specific to use, because they seem like the best humane/mess free/inexpensive way although doesn't look the best in the garden for going under each pot, especially pretty ornate pots! Haha I'm sure different sizes and styles can be introduced in time!

I have had mixed results with copper. Interestingly, the best results were on clay soil. Acidity might improve chemical repellant effects? Or perhaps some sort of electrical effects, setting up a crude battery effect? Might be worth a punt...😊
@stopslugsАй бұрын
I guess most people use it as a tape on pots. So probably doesn't effect for most people. My hunch is it's effects to help are relatively low, but in some gardens that maybe enough to encourage slugs to eat other plants if they're equally tasty or the ones in the pots aren't their favourites. Copper is more useful when used with other effective methods as a combination, so use 3/4 together.

Nice product and I like the way you demonstrate it and also discuss any potential issues. I’ve also been thinking about a similar solution for a different kind of pest - ants. I find whenever I put out food for my cat, if she doesn’t finish it completely in a very short time, the bowl is very quickly covered in ants. I also have a neighbour who had similar issues with an automatic dry cat food feeder which he used to feed his cats when he was away for a few days. It wasn’t long before ants found their way in the device. The reason I mention this is because it might give you additional potential markets for this product or a variation of it.

@@stopslugs Hi! So you could in effect design a guttering system to keep slugs at bay of certain areas in your garden. My boss was complaining about slugs around his herb garden which is a round rockery about 2meters in diameter: easy. Stopslugs is already brilliant branding. You can also do the garden guttering planning service. Also I find it fundamentally interesting the altruistic cooperation. I wonder if was accidental, or rudimentary thinking. I would get in touch with a university biology department and show them... Good luck with the brand!

an experiment I would suggest would be to compare different species ability to find the solution. It would be super interesting to have a comparison in levels of intelligence in gastropods. : ) I had an exam once in Costa Rica where I had to name the internal organs of a dissected slug... was pretty cool. I remember the radula, The liver and the kidney vaguely
