Hello, Mojave! Would this mic be good to record a jumbo acoustic like the guild f-40 traditional. And sine it is a darker mic, would a pre amp in the style of an old school neve 1073 make it darker or is it something not to consider or worry about? Also, between this and the ma-1000(your u67) wich would you use on acoustic and on voice? For old school tom petty/Lennon voice register. Thank you and congratulations on your products! The Namm award is great!
@dusty_wakemanАй бұрын
While the MA-37 is gorgeous on acoustic, it is a special color. I would recommend the MA-1000 for acoustic and voice.
@dusty_wakemanАй бұрын
But, that said, that's why we make more than one mic :)
@Play3rThund3rАй бұрын
@@dusty_wakeman my bad, the 1000 is your 251. Thank you for the answer, dusty! But why would that be? can you specify? I have a hunch that the 37 would be great with my voice. Im also romaticizing with the fact that mel blanc used a c37a, the voice(s) i grew up with.
@paulocosta3007Ай бұрын
@@dusty_wakeman should comment with the right channel ahah here it is. i bet the ma 37 would work with the voice from the songs i have here. Well, years have passed and now its better ahah But you get the gist

If the Mojave recreates the same sound as the Sony, then the Sony sound is not "unique" as you say, right? Maybe it would be better to say that the Sony sound is "distinctive" or "memorable" instead.
@dusty_wakemanАй бұрын
The Sony was introduced in the late 50s and sounded like no other mic. The MA-37 was introduced in 2022. That’s a 60+ year solo run for the Sony. Doesn’t that qualify for ‘unique’?

I have a MA-200 with a subminiature tube. Is there an advantage to having a subminiature tube?
@dusty_wakeman3 ай бұрын
Yes - it fits in the microphone
@2grandbaby8543 ай бұрын
The EF86 fits just fine in the MA37 and there are a lot of mics that are similar in size to the MA-200 with regular sized tubes, so that doesn’t really answer my question… But thanks anyway.
@2grandbaby8543 ай бұрын
My MA-200 sounds great by the way, so everything else is irrelevant as long as it sounds good. No complaints here. I was just curious as a fellow audio nerd.

@@dusty_wakemanas a live sound tech, I absolutely abhor it. Completely destroys my gain staging and EQ. If I worked with a vocalist that did and I knew the songs, I'd have to set up 2 channels and ride faders.

Both set-ups sound excellent! In the first set-up, I like how the two floor toms don't get lost in the overall "picture." I would've like to hear the the floor toms in the second, also great sounding, setup...but alas. You've got the drums tuned very, very well, which helps a great deal, along with good technique. Thank-you for sharing!

I've owned U-67, U-47, C-414, RCA ribbons and other top quality mics since the late 60's. I recently added a matched pair of Mojave MA-300s and love them. I love the variable pattern controls. I'm using the MA-300s on drum overheads, vocals, acoustic guitars, odd percussion instruments and old pump reed organs. They are wonderful. I'll hope to demo the Mojave MA-37 soon.

I’ve been a fan of his since I first heard Time out of Mind. I had fallen in love with a Royer 122 around the same time as when I first heard that record years ago. I heard David Royer was making a remake or a tribute to a C-37a and I bought it. If you’re interested in this mic and not sure if you want to get one, get it. I’m honestly not just saying that. It’s opened up such a wonderful space of vocal recording that I’ve never been able to find before. Great microphone.

Read Dead Redemption II, so iconic. Tragic story of Fenton fighting off gunslingers not through violence, but books and bestowed his knowledge unto those who sought to harm him. Playing as Lancelot after Fenton dies reading his journal on a cliff facing the sunrise was such a beautiful moment. Still sad there was no Typing of the Undead DLC for the prequel though. “When the time comes, you better run to the library, and don’t look back” 😢
