The kind of movie you can watch when you’re young, and think getting older doesn’t look so bad.

WOW

After all these many, many hard, distracting years, hearing the opening version of Pachelbel’s Canon in D--a *perfect* choice for this film’s soundtrack--to Redford’s ORDINARY PEOPLE still sends chills down my back…I remember the first time I ever watched it…with my Mother. She hated it…That’s when I knew I was right to find it brilliant.

RIP Donald Sutherland. Should've been nominated for an Oscar for your wonderful performance
@sike23997 ай бұрын
Donald Sutherland in this movie was the best for me. A man confused, trying to do the right thing for his wife and son and at the end has to make a choice. He didn't get an Oscar because back then male actors did not win unless they became violent or just aggressive.
@roberthensley96404 ай бұрын
Agreed ! Mary Tyler Moore deserved an oscar too but his role was really more central to the film and he was great.

Where can I find the piano sheet music?
@swr277710 ай бұрын
Don't know if sheet music is available for this particular instrumental adaptation. But the actual song, "The Bilbao Song" from the musical HAPPY ENDINGS by Berltolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, has openly available sheet music for voice and piano.

@@swr2777 Hi. I am a music publisher and I'm working on a piano sheet music book featuring some of the best music pieces from Woody Allen's movies. Bilbao Song will be one of them - love this rendition by Bernie Leighton. Cheers !

I love this movie. Judd Hirsch was awesome. Then scene where Hirsch says. " because I'm your friend", truly beautiful. I use to host a radio show in university called. " Philosophers and Thinkers", we discussed this movie many times.

Ho visto questo film quando è uscito in Italia. L ' ho subito considerato un capolavoro , uno dei film della mia vita . Ma anche la critica lo ha subito considerato tale, un capolavoro, quindi non underrated

Just watched it. There is so much sensibility in the way this movie was made. You can feel the pain and how every character deals with grief in their own way. The ending is heart-warming - acceptance and showing your vulnerability is the key message here. Beautiful movie.

That Mary Tyler Moore didn't win the Oscar for her incredible performance in this film is a crime. She captured perfectly the complex and multidimensional reactions of a person devastated and heartbroken by the death of a loved one. It is truly one of the great performances in film.
