@batmantherooster we found out that pretty Bird is a boy. Lol. Also, sadly, since he is a hybrid between 2 very different geese, he is most likely not fertile. He has a gaggle of 17 geese now, and last year, 3 of them (mated by him) laid eggs. I incubated most of them to check for life, and sadly, none developed. 😔 But he happily adopts goslings and raises them as gis own, so he is still getting to be a papa! He is a phenomenal dad and has yet to lose any goslings! Very protective ❤️

PLEASE know this is an old video. At the beginning of me learning about these birds I made mistakes. This baby was a borderline if not already a fledgling. It was helped and released under the guidance of a licensed rehabber. I may not have made it clear in the video, but, the first thing I did and what should be done is to look for a nest and return the baby to the nest. It it appears to be a fledgling. Placing it in the nearest bush or tree will be best as the parents will usually continue to feed it. The reason I took this one home was because he was VERY hungry and seemed desperate. Anyhow, be sure to contact your local wildlife rehabbers for guidance as it is illegal to take animals from the wild without a license or under the guidance of a rehabber. If they need help, it is 100% legal to transport then to a rehabber/vet or care for them until a rehabber can be located. Hope this helps. Ty for watching ❤

I was very surprised as well. The little one was rehabbed and released. At the time, I still had much to learn and I know I wasn't correct on some of the things I said. I now make a point of telling everyone to ALWAYS contact a rehabber asap. Tho most of my videos and advice is about canada geese and waterfowl . ❤ Thank you for what you do. ❤

@prettybirdthepetgoosefrien8155
@prettybirdthepetgoosefrien8155 Ай бұрын
@mayraalejandra6023 i assume you have a male and female. If not, then those eggs are NOT fertile and need to be removed immediately. you should candle the eggs to see if there is life. Look up the images and videos of candlening chicken eggs to learn what live vs dead embryos look like. If the eggs are clear like mine, they are definitely empty and should be removed. You won't kill the embryo by handling the eggs. Just wash your hands well before you touch them. You can also choose to wear gloves (medical gloves). When candling, all birds pretty much look/develop the same inside the eggs, only difference is size and how quick or long they take until they are ready to hatch (and of course they look different as they are different species/breeds lol). Be sure to look up "how long for cockatiel eggs to hatch," and if it's been a week since they were supposed to hatch, remove them. To help momma and daddy (assuming you have a male), make some scrambled eggs (DON'T add any oil or butter or seasonings!) Make them a healthy dish of food for them to eat from. Include veggies, fruits, scrambled eggs, some greens and seeds, etc. You can look up what the best power foods for cockatiels are! It's necessary that you work on getting g their strength and body weight back up after sitting on eggs for 28days. ESPECIALLY if you don't have a male. Cockatiels work together, so if the female has been sitting on the eggs all day, them she has been starving herself an extreme amount the last 28 days and needs help. Anyhow, I hope this helps. After ypu have figured out of the eggs are fertile/will hatch and once removed or hatched and raised, clean the cage and redo the layout of the cage. Also, if possible move their cage to a different room in the house. The female should not be allowed to lay eggs or incubate eggs until next year if possible. You can google how to prevent them from laying eggs and nesting. Best of luck!

@Pompompurring855 it's all good. I would just recommend that you try to find out WHY your cockatiel is laying eggs if she is still doing it. If there is no male and or you don't want babies, one way to stop them from laying is to change how the cage is arranged and also to change the location of the cage. If your female keeps laying, she could become egg bound, which is REALLY bad.

I have been feeding about 24 hours, I am feeding formula. My liitle one has feathers, when can I feed seeds. How is the bird that gets released going to know where to find food? My bird is not opening its beak.
@prettybirdthepetgoosefrien8155
@prettybirdthepetgoosefrien8155 2 ай бұрын
@rlchick5774 it would be best if you contact t a rehabber. Your birds may be fledgling, meaning they should have been left where you found them and should have simply been placed in a nearby tree. You can research "soft release" to find how you can assist after release and how to release once ready. I'm not an expert. I was working with a rehabber. This video was snack time, not a main feeding .

@unabhangigenachrichtensh7296 I'm not sure what you are talking about? His crop? His crop was full because he had just eaten. Other than that, pretty bird is perfectly proportioned. This simply ended up being a little food stuck in his esophagus, and he was able to work it out on his own. At that time (several years ago), I had much less knowledge about geese and was still learning the basics. This is a little issue that can happen in any waterfowl or animal. They eat too quickly, and something gets stuck (it happens to us humans as well). Usually they are fine, tho sometimes it can be dangerous, depending on which pipe it went into and if they are able to work it out themselves

If you can't reach the nest, place them in a basket you can hang as close to the nest as possible. The parents will continue ue to care for the baby. Also, please look up "how do i tell baby bird vs. fledgling vs. adult"

I talk Goose with my goose and she understands. She has many messages she can tell me with different honks and body language. Sometimes we just honk loudly as a bonding thing. I think it means: "Listen up! We're the geese! We're the geese! so listen up everyone!" Prolly some ppl think Im a bit crazy, but its such a close communication with my girl. She is so gentle and has never even so much as thought about biting me. People who know how sensitive geese are would understand. Some regular wild ducks trust me as well, I feed some of them who have been injured and get picked on. They know when youre eyeballing them in the crowd, and some head-nodding back and forth really builds trust.

@prettybirdthepetgoosefrien8155
@prettybirdthepetgoosefrien8155 4 ай бұрын
The eggs won't have veins in the beginning. They develop over time. Very few people can determine fertility prior to 5 days into incubation. As the bird sits, the embryo will start to develop with steady heat (temp varies depending on species of bird). A spider like webbing of veins will start to develop, and after some time, if you know what you are looking for, you'll find the veins and a TINY heartbeat. The embryo will continue to grow and develop while the veins will spread over a large area within the egg. The egg will continue to become darker within as the chick grows... this happens with EVERY EGG! And yes, ALL BIRD EGGS WORK LIKE THIS... This is why i waited for over a week and candled a couple of times to confirm. If you know what you are doing, you can candle for life, as sitting on eggs that are dudds is very unhealthy for your bird. Also, she had no mate. Pikachu never mated her, and she was trying to hatch infertile eggs on her own... THEY STARVE THEMSELVES to hatch babies when they don't have a mate. I hatch eggs often and have done so for a long time. What you are recommending is not safe. No bird should be left to sit on eggs that will never hatch. Please do more research on this matter.
