If Doug Williams never left Tampa, then James Wilder wouldn't have been run in to the ground.

As a Alabama fan/graduate my belated thanks to the 1978 Missouri team for beating Nebraska here in 1978. If Nebraska had won, it would have been #1 Penn St. vs. #2 Nebraska down there in the Orange Bowl for all the marbles. But, fortunately for Alabama, Missouri wins this game and Nebraska National Title hopes went down the drain. .. #2 Alabama goes on to beat #1 Penn St down there in the Sugar Bowl. .. Joe Paterno still wanted go down to the Orange Bowl to play 2-loss Nebraska, but Bear Bryant was able to politely persuade Paterno that it would be a better matchup to have #1 PSU face off against #2 Alabama. ... Coach Bryant was able to subtly remind Joe Paterno about the static Paterno/ Penn St. received when he dodge Texas in 1969.

@@Bamruff62 AT ALABAMA. No doubt who the better team was. and yeah, usc was down to their 5th string center vs ASU. That never happens. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpqTd2acd5uElZo&ab_channel=BamaRewind And quit counting all your BS championships that you don't deserve.

@@brianjacob8728 .. Wow the center was now 5th string? That center position keeps getting lower and lower. I'm not sure there is such a thing as 5th string. Alabama had a number of first string players out due to team restrictions. Sorry Brian but a team goes with its lineup. USC was duly rewarded in the polls for their win and Alabama was duly penalize for the loss dropping down to #8 in the polls. But the season continues on. USC got hosed off the field by an UNRANKED team. USC fell down in the polls. That's the way the polls work. Games played later in the season are weighted more than games played earlier. Both Alabama and USC flubbed up their chances of winning a Unanimous National Title when they both lost to a Lesser team

I haven't found the 1976 game at Nebraska featuring the long pass from Pete Woods to Joe Stewart, did I miss it or is it not on here?
@mld7963

Husker game, 1976… 99-yard TD pass to Stewart when our all-American cornerback tripped and Stewart blew past him. Second string QB Pete Woods threw a perfect 60-yards-in-the-air strike, and that was that… all we had to do was stop ‘em for 1 more play, and we couldn’t do it… still hurts lol! All in all, a very good Mizzou team, who beat #8 USC, #2 Ohio State and #3 Nebraska as visitors, and also beat #14 North Carolina and #14 Colorado… they then got beat by Kansas and Illinois! Three of their losses were to #16 Oklahoma State, #7 Iowa State, and #11 Oklahoma by a combined 12 points!! Unbelievable year for the Tigers.

That old gold looks so much better than the sickly canary yellow shade the Tigers wear these days. The official colors are still old gold and black, aren't they, so why does the football team only wear it on their helmet? Did Pinkel allow the players to choose the shade?

@TheMrsamuelson uhh....yeah. if you couldn't tell, first by my handle, and then by my comment...I bleed Husker Red. I can't stand Missouri. I was saying that Nebraska POUNDED Missouri so much for so long, but there aren't too many highlight vids of that, simply because Missouri was too HORRIBLE to put the game on anyone's television set, save for a few magical years for them.
@cornfednebraskaneer

Good game and way to go tiggers. However, there aren't too many old videos of Nebraska running over Missouri. Not because Nebraska didn't win much (quite the opposite), but because they simply weren't televised. They weren't televised because one of the teams rarely mattered to conference standings, much less national rankings. The team that rarely mattered(s) certainly wasn't/isn't clad in scarlet...

I appreciate the fact that they were from a Missouri perspective and yes I figured that out, but I also have videos posted and I'm a Husker fan that shows key highlights for both teams. For example 83 NU vs OU and 98 Nu vs Tennessee. I liked your highlights but would have liked to see both teams as it was a great game that went back and forth and would have made your highlight package without question 5 stars. Your highlights did not capture the true competitiveness of this game. just saying
