Shame Tamworth is still not connected to the WCML. Even growing up in Coventry in the 60s the link had been removed. I used to pick the 159s up from Bournemouth depot & take them back to Salisbury after C4 maintenance. I'd have like that trip up country though to bring one back.

I can remember when Foxton had two sets of level crossing gates connecting Barrington Road, I used to work at the printing works in Foxton and cycled to work every day going across the level crossing in the 60s and 70s. Happy days.

It's slightly frustrating to see long diesel workings on electrified routes. Hopefully Grand Central will decide to replace their fleet with bi-modes like Hull Trains has done, in the light that Grand Central runs only on a very small portion of unelectrified railways. If that comes true, then all trains could depart King's Cross on electric...
