Does the Lutheran Church of Australia allow women to vote in the church? I can see that being the root of the problem right there.

Why do you guys try so hard to be like Anglicans?
@larrybeane8 жыл бұрын
It's an interesting comment (or passive-aggressive accusation?). The service was right out of our former hymnal (Lutheran Worship) - including all the hymns. We American Lutherans are English-speaking western catholics - and we western catholics all use essentially the same liturgy, vestments, gestures, responses, collects, etc. Of course, no Anglican takes vows of fidelity to the documents that comprise the Book of Concord, and you will also note that we have an all-male clergy - so there are a couple striking differences between us and Canterbury (the ACC doesn't ordain women, but does allow for prayers to the saints, which we don't). Also, our hymnals were blue in those days, unlike the BCP. ;-) But maybe you have something specific in mind that I'm missing.

Lord, I miss the TV programming of the 60s. When orchestral concerts could be seen regularly on network television, and interviews with creative artists could be broadcast without screams of "elitism." But I live in the USA, which means I'm out of touch with what is now on TV in the great land of Canada -- maybe programming like this still happens? (P.S. I also love the novels of Robertson Davies.)

Being an altar boy at St. Mary Magdalene in the 1940's I had the privilege of listening to this great choir under the great leadership of Dr. Healy Willan every Sunday.. I have never forgotten this experience. Art Kirkwood

I'm a great fan of Dr. Willan's music. What a stark contrast between the sublime music and the hideous church brass at St. Mary Magdalene.
@protocolofficer26298 жыл бұрын
The church is quite handsome and loved by all of the parishioners. The only thing hideous about this is your unkind comment.
@PrenticeBoy16888 жыл бұрын
Critiquing the church brass is unkind, you say? Oh well. I trust you won't lose much sleep over it.
@Fanchen7 жыл бұрын
You call that a criticism? You gave no helpful critics, it was a bashful comment and unnecessary.

Great job! Children generally love learning and singing Latin. Why can't parish childrens' choirs learn basic chants (as Vatican II directs) instead of Barney-esque kiddie hymns?
