So glad you use “ black bass “ instead of largemouth. Largemouth have been known as black bass for decades until the last 10-15 years. Still call spotted “spots “ and smallmouth “ smallies “ Nice work on the river 👍🏼

You put the Bubble on the main line in the wrong direction. The larger end needs to face the bait or the lure. The smaller end back to the rod. I was going to Sub but not sure you are doing it right.

Bro! Your videos are so informative with lots of knowledge about the fish you’re targeting. I started my channel for my family to watch and it picked up from there. Only half of my videos are actually posted for the public now. The rest are unlisted for only family members and close friends. Loving the channel and the multi species content! Keep at it!

great video!! just got into shad fishing in the Sacramento River and it's a lot of fun. never been out in the American but will have to go try it so i can use light tackle. mind sharing the general area of this location
@CaliforniaFishing22 күн бұрын
The American River in the Sacramento area is fairly short. During the shad season on the American River (they move through up the Sac to the American), you can bike along the trail and see people fishing for them, can't miss it. Also, any accessible part of the river will be holding shad, can't miss them.

So just a 1/32 oz jig with curly tail no weights?
@CaliforniaFishing25 күн бұрын
depends on the flow and depth of the river. The river he was fishing is shallow and fairly slow, so it'll get down quickly and he's bouncing it. If it's like 3-4 feet deep and flowing, you may need split-shots to get it down.

@CaliforniaFishing5 күн бұрын
@@AsainClient the main goal is to the get lure, be in a 1/32 jig and 1 inch curly tail or a fly, in front of them, without snagging on the rocks. So , so you can use a split shot or two to get it down, but not too far down where you'll snag on the rocks, or you can use a bobber and adjust the length of the line until you're near the bottom but not snagging. Watch the bobber action to determine this. Or, just go out during shad season and watch and ask questions. I know some aren't the friendliest out there, but there are some who will show you the way. Also, visit the nearest bait shop or fishing store for guidance. I've received the same tips I'm telling you when asking the folks at Fisherman's Warehouse and other stores.

I love the DUO 50s jerkbaits. They cast so smoothly and great action. I also have the non-DUO stuff to compare against and it's night and day. And I've caught plenty of bass on the north and middle forks of the American, like you. Also sucker fish and pike minnows.

That JDM gear is way too expensive for the average angler. I use to work in a tackle shop in San Diego in the 2000s and most customers wouldn't spend 100 bucks on gear. Only a few ever did. Most of the specialty stuff sat on the shelf for months. Great video. I'm glad to see it being used here in the states!

Nothing you do is a fluke ! Unless your fishing with one ! Lol ! Your always showing g and proving management different ways to catch different species. So why would you be able to land a bunch of trout on something as easy as power bait baiting ! You go Mr . Hero !
@lylemoors4194Ай бұрын
Shouldn't you thread the bubble at the wider side of the straw? It will keep the bubble straw locked tight when hitting against the swivel etc .
@paigeloomisАй бұрын
Yes. The swivel should be up against the wide end of the tube. And then 6 feet of 4 lb fluoro to the pistol Pete. I don’t think the bead is necessary. If you want to fish smaller flies, cut the leader down a bit and tie a double surgeons loop. Then loop to loop a 2’ section of fluoro fly tippet to your smaller flies.
