Naah I use Harpic X10 Action. Effortless shine
@marsmoto1
@marsmoto1 26 күн бұрын
Yes, Harpic X10 contains hydrochloric acid. This works great if your pipes are only discoloured & dirty. But if they're deeply scratched or gouged from stone chips or the like, you need mechanical polishing and buffing. Since my pipes pop out under the seat and tail, they often experience stone chips. Thanks for your comment, much appreciated.

I ordered from amotopart and I will never order from them again. This guy doing this is doing a review for amotopart. My fairings are shitty. There are water marks under the clear coat. Gouges under the clear coat. So the paint job was bad and they still clear coated. They do not respond to any communication. Phone calls emails or their website. Don't buy from amotopart they suck. I paid $570.00 and I just went with the regular fairings that was originally used. So it wasn't some special paint job, it was basic and they messed that up.
@marsmoto1
@marsmoto1 4 ай бұрын
Firstly, please don't accuse me of doing this review for Amotopart. I paid $900 AUD for my fairings and I took the same risk that you did, after watching other reviews on KZbin. I'm sorry you received poor quality fairings and I don't know why Amotopart are not responding to you. This is the first negative review I've received and I'm disappointed to hear. Now, as you can see from my video, my fairings were excellent. I pointed out all of the blemishes; I didn't hide anything. They weren't perfect, but very close to the originals. I even did another video 6 months later to show how they've held up. Troy Bayliss himself saw my fairings last week (video is being edited now) and he didn't notice they were aftermarket. The dealership didn't notice either. So please don't question my honesty. I'm not a big KZbinr with a huge following, so what do I have to gain? I don't work for Amotopart, so I don't have any insight into what has changed there. All I can say is that I really hope they get back to you, and if you'd like me to try to contact them, I'd be willing to try to help.

There is a proper tool like a rivet gun that compresses the collar so wouldn't matter if glue failed after time
@marsmoto1
@marsmoto1 5 ай бұрын
That is very true, and you can also make a very simple tool to compress the Rivnut. The only reason I didn't show it in my video is because the airbox is plastic, and I was concerned that if people over-tighten the Rivnut, they may crush the airbox plastic... and then I'll be blamed for giving bad advice 😂. Thanks for your comment 👍.

You've got a point, but I borrowed that workshop from a friend, and there's nothing fancy there. He's got a simple bench grinder that seems to be part of an old lathe, and an air compressor with a dremel air tool. You could probably skip the air tool step and just use any old bench grinder. But thanks for your comment. I will be more aware of this in future videos.

What kind of exhaust?
@marsmoto1
@marsmoto1 7 ай бұрын
It's an Akropovic race system. Being a Superbike, I would assume it is specially manufactured for this bike. But if you have the money, Akro systems are probably the best.

Anything you'd recommend for someone that has an oil stain on their exhaust? TLDR: oil got on my exhaust while it was hot and now seems to be permanently stuck on there. Would I need to go through this whole process or is there a way to just remove the oil?
@marsmoto1
@marsmoto1 7 ай бұрын
People have had amazing results with Harpic 10x cleaner, which has 10% hydrochloric acid as the main constituent. Be careful though, and wear gloves. But before trying that, I would try Autosol metal cleaner if it's just an oil stain and only try the Harpic cleaner if that doesn't work. The whole process I've shown in the video is only necessary if you have deeper pitting and gouges in the surface of the metal, but not for stains.

I was very nervous about ordering my fairings from Amotopart. The company claims its headquarters are in the US, California, but when I received the box, it had Chinese writing all over it. I believe the parts are all made and painted in China, but as you see in the video, I was quite happy with the products. I just don't know how long they'll last, but that will come with time. There was another company I was looking at, MotoXP Ricambi in Italy. Their fairings look amazing, and being Italian manufactured, I'm sure they're much better quality than Amotopart. However, they're more than double the price! For my V2 fairings, they cost more than $2000 AUD before shipping! I paid $900 AUD with shipping, so there's a very big difference. It depends what you want to spend.

Great video although some suggestions Try Autosol Bluing Remover or alternatively Autosol Pickling Agent to removing oxidation on the exhaust as long as it's not a chromed exhaust Goes faster and easier Before using Autosol Metal Polish you can use Autosol Senator This will save you time when polishing with Metal Polish For Super high Gloss use Autosol Metal Super Gloss For extended protection finish with Autosol Metal Guard Effective and powerful degreaser, use Autosol A99

Hi, thanks for your awesome suggestions. To be quite honest, I have never seen any of those other Autosol products at our local Automotive stores in Australia. Generally, I've only ever seen the metal polish in a cream and a liquid. I'll look online. I'd love to try those other products out.

Titanium pipes normally discolour from the exhaust heat, so I can’t guarantee they’ll remain polished. Most people love the discolouring, as it adds some nice shades of purple and blue, etc. Are yours coloured, or are they black and disgusting like mine?

Hi can i ask after you steam the cap u need to make the cap cool down then use the starch spray?
@marsmoto1
@marsmoto1 8 ай бұрын
Hi, the spray is actually designed to be used on clothing, just prior to ironing. Therefore, you don’t have to wait until the cap cools down and you can actually apply more steam after spraying if there are still creases. Hope this helps!

I hope they are fantastic and meet your expectations. Please let me know when you receive them. I’d love to get your feedback, as I will definitely not stand behind a product if I know that someone I recommended them to was disappointed. With the V2 fairings, I’ve been recommending to people to reinforce the bottom tab that joins the bottom fairings together. This tab is really weak and I snapped mine. Reinforce it with fibreglass or something similar if you can. I’ll try to make a video on it soon. All the best!

Great video. The steamer/steam iron would be ideal for me. Ideally without the use of a mannequin head. Would an upside down bowl be as useful or any other options?
@marsmoto1
@marsmoto1 10 ай бұрын
I watched a heap of videos before attempting this and people use all sorts of different items to shape the hat. You can definitely use a bowl if it’s roughly the size of a head. I used the mannequin head because it is round, but also narrow around the forehead and temple area. Saw one guy use a bucket with paper stuffed on top. Another guy just stuffed paper into the hat until it formed the shape of a head. Stretch the hat over the bowl and if you’re happy with the shape, I think it should be fine to use. Good luck, thanks for watching my video.
