Replacing a laptop for a smartphone doesn't really make sense practically in many situations. If you're carrying around a monitor, mouse, & keyboard with your phone, you're essentially carrying around the same size & weight of what you would if you were carrying around a laptop. Smartphones already can do what laptops can do, just in a smaller from factor. It's only a limitation when you need more processing power, a bigger scree, or a desktop only program

I have set the nest speaker as 'Office Speaker', my phone can see it but my PC can not, could you suggest why it might not see it?

I've seen a lot of people with the same issue. Seems like they don't like connecting to PCs. You're best options are to see if you can update the Bluetooth drivers in windows. Other people have commented that if they reset the Google device it sometimes works but this isn't ideal.

Depends on the make and model of the fob so best to Google your own. I've also upgraded to a flipper zero as it is much more compatible and can do it much easier.

Can Echo Studio be used as a microphone plus speaker during Zoom or Teams video calls or normal video calls from PC? This way, I can get rid of even the conference microphone from my desk.

Anybody have a newer version bxaction is only for older version and apparently it's not supportive for newer device I'm running a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 ultra 5G and I would love to change it to Alexa at least since there's no Cortana idea of Alexa yet

You can multi task on samsung Dex if your phone is powerful enough, but you're right there's still limitations.

In Uk using Surfshark got virgin media Ireland working over here . Live tv works .. on all vm Chanel’s .. RTE player works but no live tv.. well done with your videos..

True and well spotted, but 'wake on lan' actually does power up or turn on the PC, the wake mode depends on the operating system so when I use wake on lan I'm turning the PC on from being off. Windows is not in sleep mode, it's fully shut down.

At the end of the day, padlocks this small are not meant to stop people from getting in. They're meant to slow them down. So I use this for things like a gym locker and it's been fine and means I don't have to carry a key.

WOL on the eithernetwork card? Does your compute need to be connected to a hub through an ethernet cable? Or will this work when your PC is wifi? thanks

Only works via ethernet as the ethernet cable provides enough power to trigger the wake on lan command. Wifi will switch off when the PC is off so can't listen for the wake command.

Understandable, in the plus column though it's a once off fee and is unlimited, but not everyone will want to pay for the developers work but I haven't found a free version yet.

Seems like a recent update in one of both of these apps is not playing well with each other. Having the same issue now too as they seem to be conflicting on what a 'shortcut' is. No resolution that I've found so far :(

I am replacing my smartphone with my PC. I deleted all the distractions and "necessary" malware (even Map and music apps are full of ads and stupid dating functions, and Google and Twitter are banned here), then installed them on a Windows Subsystem of Andriod on my Windows 11...I really hope my cute smartphone will not be slow or extremely hot!

They can be used alone, but be sure to check that the one you get is specifically able to read and write on the fobs you have.

For most gigabyte motherboards go to BIOS setting > [Advanced] > [Onboard Device Configuration] and turn on the [RTC SUPPORT] option. This might vary on your device, so the best thing is to Google your make and model.

Depends on the TV, some will turn on when there's a change of signal from the HDMI but it really depends on the TV. Most won't since the TVay not be supplying power to the firestick when it's turned off.

so if you use a smart plug the device plugged into it will not draw any electricity. I read that a regular power strip can still pull energy even when shut off. So the smart strip or plugs can by pass the device from pulling any energy?

In theory the devices connected shouldn't be able to pull any power, but no harm checking with the manufacturers details to be sure. The strip itself will always draw some power to control the smart functions but I'd expect that the connected plugs shouldn't. Having said that, given that there's still a circuit connected just switched off by the control board, there might be a tiny power draw.

So I tried the Bluetooth connection method. Was working for days until today. It cannot find my nest mini in the output device toggle. I can see that it is connected in the Bluetooth and other devices setting but it's not listed under Audio. It's in the Other devices list.

Seems to be a recurring issue. Not sure why, but the only fix I've found is resetting the device to factory settings. I wonder if there's windows updates at play here or something else. It's really frustrating, though.

drives me crazy its as simple as that IT IS NOT connecting to mine. i can only use if if there is an amazon alexa. but my pc dont have amazon alexa app so i cant connect. using the common sense way to connect doesnt work either.

As for the Apple TV, I haven't tried that, but if it support Bluetooth it may connect, but might only output to that so might not give you the surround option you're looking for.

Sounds great and solves some shortcomings, e.g. with the missing Rademacher integration with IFTTT. However, the Amazon account must be connected to mkzense. I haven't read anything about security and data protection. What is your opinion on this?

I haven't had any issues to be honest, it does give me room for pause but Amazon's API is fairly restrictive so permissions wise i don't see that I'm giving the developer anything I'm uncomfortable with.

The dots don't support changing the direction of the aux port. It's audio out only, won't support audio in so the option doesn't show in the app. Only the larger echos seem to support it, and even then not all of them. :(

Unfortunately there needs to be a device on the network. You could probably just use a wake on lan app on the phone to do the same thing, but this will only work when you're connected to the same network, so on your own WiFi. At least with the physical echo I can do this even when I'm not home.

These have a massive problem with disconnecting from WiFi - at least once a month, often more regularly, it loses connection and does a weird flashing thing - so irritating - would not recommend

I had the same issue when combining the 5ghz and 2.4ghz wifi signal I to one SSID, when I separated them into two separate networks it worked, so something worth trying.
