tilt your forks up lower the mast a bit, then you can see your forks before you move into the cradle, adjust as your moving into cradle much easier. and you dont have to bend over to see your forks

What is the maximum incline your machine will climb safely, as in what type of float trailer is possible to hire to move one of these crawler type cranes? I'm looking at buying a 38RB dragline and want to know how to tranaport it along with lattice boom segments and bucket, but have NO experience whatsoever. Cheers Adrian

IVE BEEN ON N OFF MORE FLOATS THAN CAN REMEMBER. HANDS DOWN, THE BEST FLOAT IS A DROP DECK, WHERE THE DECK IS LOWER THAN THE STRINGER BEAMS. ALWAYS PUT OUT THE SIDE WINGS ON THE FLOAT.
@adriannettlefold90848 ай бұрын
@MegaIronleg I end up buying a 22RB and I have managed on a couple of different style quad axle trailers now. My biggest problem is the clutches slipping due to not having the dead side tought with the leaf spring adjustment. I have to get some made up. Then it will walk better.

the big tex 14gn has a gvwr of 15,900 lbs. the trailer it self being a 30ft (25+5) model i think has about 5,200lbs itself. the cat 416c has 13,900 lbs according to google. so its atleast ~ 3,000lbs overload...
@derekroose69402 жыл бұрын
You’re forgetting tongue weight on the truck. Factor at least 15% tongue weight at 2865lbs the trailer is only about 300lbs over weight.

That backhoe weighs at least 13k pounds. Trailer another 6k or so. I've had a cdl for 30 years and towed all over usa. Load the front loader forward next time. And chain down the bucket and the backhoe. Also, a tandem axle trailer would be much more safe. Personally, I always like to make sure I have a buffer for GVWR trailer rating. In other words....20k gvwr trailer rating, keep the load under 18k. It"s always best to urge on side of safety when towing heavy loads on public highways You really need an F-450 to handle that type of weight legally and safely. Yes, a 6.0 , 6.4 or 6.7 powerstroke will pull it with a SRW set up. But braking, stability, and safety and compliance with DOT laws in your state is critical. One crash and it could wipe out your life savings!

you are right, but the super truckers wannabes dont understand all that, for them "muh pick up truck can haul that all day"
@davidtipton7234 Жыл бұрын
2wd backhoes are very light on the front. Would've been very sketchy loading it frontwards. Nothing wrong with hauling them backward. And alot easier to load. Expecially on this length and height trailer. Really should have been on some dual 10k axles though. Truck is more than capable of hauling this. And within the gooseneck specs for a f250. I think its 22500. Now if it was a 40ft with tandem duals. I would've put a dually pickup under it. Really the only thing I see wrong is the trailer is overloaded. But stop and check bearings if no heat build. Then go with it.

You may not believe me sir . I tell ya the truth. I know you are doing this the rite way . No lie . The quarry I still work at had an old link belt crawler crane. A short boom we used to break big rock down to size . From time to time we have to move it to the other side of the river at another quarry site . Not far away but did have to trailor it . We take off the headache ball load the crane. The boom still in together hanging off the back of the trailer. The mechanic would sit in the crane and turn the crane when going a turn so the boom would not hit nothing. They would not go far . They would take it out on the state roads . 3 left turns and one right. Never do that now . I know this sounds crazy or un real . This has been 30 + years ago. I am not fibbing. I promise I tell you the truth. Thank you for showing this . Brings back a lot of good memories from a better time and a better would. Thank you sir
