12 years later, this is still the best recording of this gorgeous work of art!

Here are the words - the first section is from the contemporary Latin News broadcast on Finnish Radio: Plus octingenti homines vitam amiserunt Over 800 people perished calamitate navali in Mari Baltico septentrionali facta. in a shipwreck in the northern Baltic Sea. Navis traiectoria nomine Estonia, The car ferry Estonia, cum Tallinno Stockholmiam versus navigaret, en route from Tallinn to Stockholm, saeva tempestate orta eversa et submersa est. was overturned in a severe storm and sank. In navi circiter mille vectores erant. There were about 1,000 passengers aboard. Calamitate Estoniae nongenti decem homines perierunt 910 people lost their lives in Estonia’s wreck centum undequadraginta sunt servati. and 139 lives were saved. Qui descendunt mare in navibus, They that go down to the sea in ships, facientes operationem in aquis multis: that do business in great waters: ipsi viderunt opera Domini, these see the works of the Lord, et mirabilia eius in profundo. and his wonders in the deep. Dixit et stetit spiritus procellae For he commands and raises the stormwind, et exaltati sunt fluctus eius. which lifts up the waves. Ascendunt usque ad caelos They mount up to heaven, et descendunt usque ad abyssos. then descend again to the depths. Anima eorum in malis tabescebat; Their soul melts in the face of trouble; turbati sunt et moti sunt sicut ebrius they reel to and fro, like drunken men, et omnis sapientiae eorum devorata est. and are at their wit’s end. Et clamaverunt ad Dominum cum tribularentur Then they cry to the Lord in their trouble, et de necessitatibus eorum eduxit eos and he leads them out of distress. et statuit procellam eius; He calms the storm, in auram et siluerunt fluctus eius. so that its waves are still. Et laetati sunt quia siluerunt, Then they are glad because they are calm, et deduxit eos in portum voluntatis eorum. So he leads them to their safe haven. (Psalm 106: 23-30)

It's very rare to see the bass line overpower any other lines in a choir, and I figured when it happens, it either goes bad or it elevates the overal melody of the song, the latter is this kind of scenario.

We’re performing this song for our choir concert next week. Level of difficulty is 8/10 imo. It really pushed the boundaries for our choir. Can’t wait to perform it.

I heard about 2 minutes of this on the way to the grocery store. I would have stayed in the car to hear the rest of it, but the store was closing. I marked the time then checked the playlist on the classical music station I listen to. Heaven.

Interesting how they went significantly flat towards the end. They actually held pitch for a very long time. They didn't drop until like the very end.
