I remember the Revell 1:72 scale P-36 kit with Finnish markings, we all thought it must have been some kind of German marking but we were only 7 or 8 years old. Some adults today have just that much wit.

Why should you be offended? That swastika comes from Swedish count Eric Von Rosen, it was his personal lucky mark. He painted the swastika on a Thulin Typ D that he donated to the Finnish Air Force in 1918, way before Nazi Germany existed and adopted their swastika.

@Jargo, Yes indeed, I am aware of this simple truth but is it not widely known or so it seems and people still are prejudiced against all Germans, which of course is shameful.

@Jargo, Politics is violence and yet people persist in voting. Go figure. Political governments no matter the make, model or flavor are the bane of mankind. You might like some of Ted R. Ran E's and F's and preferred F's if they were set up right. That E was like a 6-B I ran with the foot tilt but I saw that one had a pony motor. Always were partial to the ponies. Start in any weather and the old 4-banger snort is a sound to hear! Good job!

We logged with both the 48A-D7E and 94N-D7F back in the early 1980s. These machines were equipped with Esco hydraulic booms and 100-inch Esco grapples, which replaced winches and chokers. I was fortunate to spend a lot of time running both models. The Es got more power to the ground, as they were several thousand pounds heavier in the front end. The F-models were easier to maintain and service, as the 3306 engines were set up with modern spin-on filters. Both types of engines shared similar power ratings. The engine in the E was the 4-cylinder version of the huge inline-6 that powered several models of D8, including the 14A and 46A. The exhaust note from the E was very distinctive, and could be heard for miles away. The F I built roads with mounted a 12-foot by 66-inch-tall Baldersen U-dozer with hydraulic tilt. I could do some beautiful cutting and grading with that machine. Some of the happiest days of my life. Thanks for this video, and the memories!

Last Cat I owned was a D-7 E. Used for almost 10 years and sold for more than paid for it! One tough tractor! My contract required newer equipment so started leasing from Caterpillar, Could lease a new D-6 XL for less than expense of maintenance of old tractors. Then got hurt an lost contract , Could not find competent hands!

Kyllä on mukava katsoa tätä vanhan liiton meininkiä. Selvästi on tuo homma hallinnassa ja koneen kunnosta näkee, että on oikeissa käsissä. Itsellä on D6B ja D8H, joista toisen olen jo entisöinyt. Mukava niillä on käydä puskemassa. Seiska se vielä puuttuu, mutte ehkäpä sekin joku päivä tulee hommattua. It's really nice to see an old school professionals at work. I have couple of old dozers (D6B amd D8H) my selves. The D7 and expecially D7E is something I like to have some day..

It's a D7-48A series E. Big ol' honkin' turbocharged 4-cylinder. Nice dozer. I have two of the previous series (17-A) and this tractor is a big improvement. Power Shift, heavier undercarriage. I operated one like this once but without good grouser height it wouldn't push much. This one in the video could use some more grouser too. Still seems to push okay though. Nice video.
