Hi Chris. Nice to see you. I don’t think Holden is supposed to be “unlikable.” He’s telling the story from a mental hospital as he’s just had a breakdown and is suffering from horrific grief over the loss of his little brother. He’s certainly critical of many people he encounters-especially those he deems to be “phony”-but he also very poignantly wants to save little kids and even not so little kids from losing their innocence or being corrupted by the world. I think Salinger captures the voice of a teenager brilliantly. I did a video on why I loved to teach this novel maybe two months ago. You might like to check that out for a different perspective. I hope you’re doing well, Chris.

Hi Chris. Terrific book haul. I also have a copy of Stay True, based on a review I read, but I haven't read it yet. It does sound really good. Patricia Highsmith's Strangers on a Train is terrific. I hope you do get to it. Lord of the Flies is one I used to teach. Maus is also phenomenal, isn't it? You sound really good, Chris. I hope all is well. Hope to catch up with you sometime soon.

I absolutely love _Cat's Cradle_ and I think it's probably my second-favorite Vonnegut. Just hit page 400 in _Solarium_ and holy cow, it's all coming together. I hope the conclusion is as good as the journey has been. Excited to discuss it with you, mate! Cheers!

Hey Chris, sounds like another good reading week for you. I've read Cats Cradle and it didn't quite click with me, I'd heard that it's quite funny but I think the humour went over my head. I quite liked some of the story elements though. I've been reading The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers for my channels book club, I'm halfway and really enjoying it. Enjoy the rest of your weekend mate.

Hey Chris, how's things. I picked The Revenant up last year from a charity shop, I'll be reading it before I see the film. Nier Automata is a pretty cool game, it has several different types of gameplay from fighting to shoot em up. Horror Film sounds really interesting, I absolutely love horror films so I'll keep an eye out for that one in the shops I go to.

Hi Chris. I hope you start to feel better soon. I read Julia Armfield's Our Wives Under the Sea last year. It was very unusual--kind of weird but good too. She has a new novel that has just come out that is kind of a retelling of the King Lear story which I would really like to read. All the best with your studying, and have a good weekend with your son.
