You learn by your mistakes. Always fly back no less than 60% battery to be on the safe side.

You killed the drone by gaining altitude on the return trip, (stronger winds). lol..

Anyone who range tests over water and deliberately cancels return to home might as well just go ahead and order another drone cause this one will be at the bottom of the sea.

These DJI drones are great. They're a whole lot of fun even for a 62yo man like myself. The first time I flew it I thought I was going to have a heart attack it was so much fun. It really did freek me out the first time I flew but I put faith in the Tec and so far I haven't been disappointed. With all the safety sensors it's got you probably couldn't crash unless you did it on purpose and nobody would do that. Im loving mine 🏴‍☠️🚁🇳🇿

I remember seeing this video 2 years ago. It did not stop me doing a range test over the sea though. I did 5k with my mini 2 but the weather conditions were ideal. Of course into a 12k/h wind heading out and the same wind pushing the mini 2 back to base on its return. I always turn back the drone with well over 50% left in the battery. The advantage of doing a rather risky test range over the sea is the absence of interferences with the signal.

I lost my new mini 4 pro just one month old in a river in India due to same mistake of high wind and increasing altitude😢😢😢

Why did you keep raising altitude on the way back? That was your main issue, the drone even told you to drop altitude

Bad flight management! Getting more altitude? For what? A drone doesn't glide and the wind is stronger up there + you are using battery to go up! Sport mode on? For what? The only one that is loosing here is the sea that has to deal with plastic and battery from a foolish like you that don't follow even simple basic roules!

Start backwind and return headwind ... over sea.. a disaster waiting to happen. I just started to fly drones, but that would be a setup i would never take. Felt terrible to see that drone getting closer and closer to the water... and gonna feel terrible total day now .. haha. Dont give up and dont go anyway near that water again... better walk 2 miles into a forrest and be able to find it then ....water....

You made a lot Of mistakes why would you do a range test overwater and when it said strong, wind warning why did you descend a little bit and when it was descending because the battery was dead you didn’t even make an effort to push it up so it wouldn’t die in the ocean
