Laura Lee had done a video a few months ago with her top 10 buys and a Maybelline ad swooped in in the background with a large mascara sitting in the background, she never mentioned the mascara. the comments were all about the mascara ad, i think its more engaging than a regular sponsorship or ad as people are actively commenting/noticing whereas they have become numb to regular ads. Since then i have noticed the same ad in more videos so Maybelline must have got some value from it

Absolutely love your podcast, please do another season. Would love to hear more about social media strategy for people trying to get started, specifically what works on youtube vs tiktok. What are some social media trend predictions for 2025? Vlogging seems to be getting popular again, how should newcomers with no pre-existing audience approach that? Would love it if you could dive into specific strategy and tips a bit more since you guys are the experts! You could even bring on creators from your roster as guests to share how they got started on social media, what they've found works etc

I do this a lot. It’s not really appreciated until it’s APPRECIATED. For the most part, people need to realize that feedback is not criticism, it’s bringing up a problem with the intention of improving your idea/thought/product.

Thanks for all the info! Question regarding declaring gifting as income on our tax returns - I read somewhere that as long as there is written evidence that the gifting was received on a no-obligation-to-post basis, then we do not have to declare it as income as the gifting was not received as 'payment' for the content. Is this true or false?? Thanks!

In this scenario whether you need to pay taxes on gifts varies on individual circumstances, the value of the gift, and any potential future business relationships! It's a bit of a grey area. Worth speaking with someone about it.

Re: journalist v creators, I’d say because blogging etc is rooted in personal, organic, genuine opinions and suggestions, it’s important to know when that is not the case (ie it’s paid in ant way). I think with journalists it’s obvious it’s business related

I loved this episode so much. Also, it is actually illegal to sell gifted items. I saw somewhere that brands can actually tell when the item is something they’ve gifted. But yeah it is illegal x

Millennial here who grew up watching Hannah Montana! Actually most millennials did. Think this is a you thing 😂 Im 1995, but my older sister also loved it. I would say anyone from about 1993! I thought that time of Disney was mostly millennials, and then slightly Gen Z

Born in the 80s. Definitely didn't grow up with this, or have cable. I was basically living in the 50s and 70s, with hand-me-downs. My computer was a typewriter, had a rotary phone, and a black and white box floor tv that got 3 channels (if I was lucky).

I didn't ask! I received the data from the brand. The reason is because men are in the senior leadership positions, despite it being a female dominated industry.
