Leap years *did* exist before 1582 but they used the more simplistic calculation of once every four years. 1582 is significant because that's when many (though not all*) countries switched from using the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar. The primary difference between the 2 calendars is how they calculate leap years which was also the main motivation for the change: the catholic church noticed that the observed position of the moon in the sky was deviating from expectations based on the calendar date (the timing of easter is based on the first full moon after the Spring equinox) and pope Sixtus IV and later Paul III and later Gregory XIII hired mathematicians/astronomers to figure out why and devise a new calendar to correct the drift. The reason for the drift is that the romans who invented the Julian calendar thought a year was 365.25 days exactly when in reality it's more like 365.2422 or something which meant that the calendar was slipping essentially 3 days every 100 years. So from the time of the Council of Nicaea in 325 to 1582 the calendar slipped about 10 days and in 1582 in the countries where the new Gregorian calendar was adopted they actually skipped from Oct 4th to Oct 15th to make up for the difference and moving forward would observe leap years every 4 years except for years divisible by 100 unless they were also divisible by 400 (so he does have that part of the rules correct in his presentation just the first rule was wrong when he claimed that leap years weren't invented until 1582). *As any developer knows, calculating dates is always weird in code because of timezone offsets but usually we're insulated from issues of calendar adoption since almost the entire world had adopted the Gregorian calendar by the 1750s with some notable holdouts like Russia (which adopted it in 1919 I think). But if you do have to work with older dates, you need to know which country the event occurred to really know what date it was. The October revolution of 1917 actually happened in November on the Gregorian calendar. William Shakespeare died in England the same date that Miguel de Cervantes died in Spain in 1616 but they actually died like 11 days apart because Spain was on the Gregorian calendar since it was a majority catholic country but England was ruled by the Church of England which didn't buy into the need for the calendar switch that the catholic pope had promoted until 1752 when it became harder to do commerce with other countries because no one knew what the fuck date it was.

That was really helpful. In case of cmtd, I have implemented this for CPQ object but I'm not able to select the product meaning in case of Case object, case number will be there. When you click on the number, you will redirect to that case record.
