Shame non of the wheels belong to a Power Major but from earlier models. Front should be 3 spokes and rear wheels scalloped centres. DT

Two things, the oil is milky showing water in it, needed changing and most import, NEVER start the tractor stood by the side of it, The selectors can sometimes show a false neutral so the stick is neutral but she is in gear, that little motor will start and take you under the wheels, It happened to a local chap, it is a real danger.

GTFO, I refuse to believe it just started right up. Makes you wonder why it was just parked and abandoned.

You would be so surprised the different reasons machines are parked up. In this one you can see he got nothing at the key but it fired when jumping the starter solenoid, something bad key switch/ignition related. I picked up a 154 recently and the person had installed the battery backwards.....that was the only issue.

I bought a 270 from 74 verry cheap. Its a great machine. I think my grand children will have fun with it in more tha 40 years to the future!

I don’t suppose you could tell me how I can tell wether a Leyland has a Q cab or a standard cab?

On a Q cab the front window doesn’t open. Q cabs also have a sealed back and back window whilst standard cabs are open at the back.

Wow I'm restoring a 272 Parts are hard to find but they can be found. I'm 1/2 paint stage now, lots preparation sorry I can only 😅 as its like yours before I used all kinds wire brushes and break cleaner works well

That will be a dang good tractor/restore project! Looking forward to seeing more of this as time goes by... Congratulations! Grandfather had nothing but Leylands the last 40+ years he was farming and alive - 5 of them. 384 and the ret 272s. His first was a 344 and just found it last year - now mine! Dang Leyland will probably outlive me as they are that darn good if taken care of. Nice! :-)

A great score, well done ! I quite like those little Leyland diesels, not too common here in Australia. I once went to an auction where there was a Fordson Major, Ferguson TEA20 and one of these Leylands all incomplete but very restorable and so cheap my head was spinning ! I ended up bringing the Fordson home, mainly because I learned to operate a tractor on one when I was a kid.

Are there emblems missing from both sides of the bonnet? I am looking for one like this in the United States and I'm just looking for the most complete 1 I can find.
