This is still one of, if not, my favorite episode of the whole series and I've seen it many times, but I noticed something watching this clip that I never noticed before. She calls him "Rick" in this scene. For the next few seasons she calls him "Castle," and doesn't start calling him "Rick" again until they become a couple.

Ryan & Avi Esposito looks like funny jokers to me that means they are not like angry cops like Bobby , Andy & Danny & Fancy who looses COOL like in NYPD Blue doing real police work. Ryan & Avi are not hot head cops so perps don’t take them seriously.

V Comments : Castle is a awesome serial I have ever seen. I have not missed a single season. Kate Beckett is amazing , she has everything a cop should have. She is brilliant in her detection. Her two partners Ryan & Avi just like Danny & Jamie. Nicky Heat , the name even Nicky will not like it . Rick Castle is handsome & charming writer is very annoying & drives Kate nuts solving cases .It is best show it is of the 12th precinct who have such amazing detectives & Jamie Reagan.

I just heard the Warner Brothers Looney Tunes theme song “The Merry Go Round Broke Down” right after Kate Beckett showed up at Richard Castle’s book signing and demanded, DEMANDED, that he jettison the name Nikki Heat because it was a slutty name. Spoken like a wife.

@@jameswg13 6 was the beginning of new writers and contract disputes. The tone of should they be together should they not was poor writing as it alienated the audience. The whole Castle being a detective was poor and instead of taking a Hart to Hart route they went bad soap opera which just ticked off the audience more. Also the humor was missing and the heat between castle and beckett was crap. I see whatyou are trying to say hut 6 to 8 were the end of what could havebeen better

So... anyone else picture the awkward conversation between Castle, Beckett & the children they appear to have had starting about 9-10 years after this first encounter... ...so how did mommy & daddy meet? "Ah...uhmmm... Mommy interrogated Daddy while "Uncle Ryan" & "Uncle Javier" watched & chuckled about it...

I just realized... judging from the guest star billings (starting at 0:59)... Ryan, Esposito, & Lanie were not originally series regulars. [Meanwhile, at 0:32... a "series regular" that didn't even get recurring guest star consideration... I think the 1st ex-wife (Jericho's "April Green", NCIS "Shannon Gibbs") ended up with more appearances.] The show runners hadn't decided if Ryan, Esposito & Parrish were going to be permanently cast roles. Having seen the show... does it really work without them?

It doesn’t. Supporting characters can be just as important as the main ones. I really enjoyed the one off episodes where they were the main characters instead of Castle and Beckett.

He wasn't asking yes/no questions... ...and her only responses were going from being dismissive of his curiosity on the case to wondering if he'd researched her...
