The year was 1987. I was invited by my friend to crash at her apartment in Salem, MA after a night of imbibery, feasting and debauchery at local bars Our relationship was totally platonic as she already had a boyfriend. As I was trying to drift off to sleep on her living room couch in a drunken stupor, this video came on MTV. It was the first and only time I saw them play this video. I have seen this band several times at bars all over the North Shore of Boston, and they always rocked it. The local Boston music scene in the 1980's was LIT as the kids would say today. Treat Her Right will always be remembered as a truly classic local band of the 1980s. BTW, that friend from the 80's is now my wife, and has been for the last 32 years. Rock on!

I saw these guys at the Blackburn Tavern in Gloucester, MA in the summer of 87, and they kicked ass! The most meanigful time I heard them though was in the spring of 1987. I was crashing on the couch of my future wife after a night of hard partying in Salem, MA. I fell asleep on her couch watching this EXACT video on MTV. At the time I never knew we would go from being just friends to actually marrying her, and we have been happily married for over 32 years. Who would have known? Life is really a mystery. (Y)

I saw the band perform this at The Iron Horse in Northampton, MA. They were opening for a new forgotten band called Scruffy the Cat.

Treat Her Right and Morphine both have that noir quality. I hear the music and think of Elmore Leonard's novels.

This song didn't get anywhere near the recognition it deserved. Music is complex and haunting. Story is also underrated.

WFNX gave it a good bit of rotation, that’s where I first heard it back in the day. (WFNX also gave me my first exposure to the Pixies, they were onto a great band right from the outset ❤️)

Dazzling, ominous and provocative, this is definitely one of the most underrated and underappreciated songs ever made, with forever relevant and relatable lyrics and they're from the boston area, like me. >>>>>>>>>>> 0:52 <<<<<<<<<<<

@@ckurtis4236 A friend of mine named John Huss called Jim Fitting up and got him to play on a song of his. I was amazed because he was/is a total indie artist and not a huge mainstream star or anything. I fail to remember the name of the song, but I'll find out when I talk to him. Here is one of John Huss's tunes from the 90's. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a33XmolpraiBkLM

Used to see them at the Plough and Stars in Cambridge every time I could. Tiny place, 5 ft from the band and they were just a ton of fun to see. Talked to Sandman more than once. Sad that they couldn’t really catch on with a harmonica player (Jim was great)-Morphine did have success, but with sax players.

To all the guys who know they've been the singer, the ones who just never GAF if she had a boyfriend, because if she gave you half a chance she wasn't going to think about anyone but YOU for some indeterminate period of time once she wakes after you leave her sleeping, naked and exhausted among the rumpled bedclothes, I salute you. And to the women with an eye for the diamond in the rough and the strength to stand the strain, I doff my chapeau, bow, and humbly offer my compliments, as well as my services. "Treat Her Right" is the Minimum standard. I'd name my band "She Comes First". Because, why wouldn't you put your best foot forward?
