You saved me so much unnecessary work! I saw silicone squish-out from the head gasket joint and thought someone had put silicone on the head gasket. Turns out Subaru did! I was getting ready to take the heads off when I saw your video. Like I said, saved me a ton of extra work. Thank you!

I am struggling with this issue on my left rear brake. Replaced all 4 wheels with new rotors, pads and calipers (reman ones) and the rear left side the piston is not retracting and the rotor is hard to turn. Pins are sliding nicely. I can turn the piston back into the caliper with no issue but as soon as I turn on the car and press the brakes once it won’t retract. If I can turn the piston back into the caliper could it still be the brake hose?

Is it safe to hook up the battery charger directly like that, or are you supposed to hook it up to the 2 terminals in the front?

I have just replaced my 2006 accord v6 engine from a low mileage car that was in a rollover accident. On cold starts it has a tapping noise that’s the same speed as the valve train. When you drive off before it’s fully warmed up the tapping noise follows RPM which worries me, feels slightly down on power before warming up too. Once it is warm the noise is only faint at idle, and goes away over 2k rpm’s. and has good power. No misfire/cel and runs smooth otherwise. I’ll post a video. Maybe a valve adjustment needed or something damaged in the rollover accident?

My alternator was doing all sorts of crazy things, random electrical gremlins, then there was a high pitched whine through the stereo speakers, instrument cluster lights would all pop on while driving, then go off, gauges would flip out then go back to normal, stereo would shut off and come back on and shut off and come back on, the air bag light would randomly dimly be visible.....The voltage meter in the truck would fluctuate, then the "battery light" flashed on and off a couple times and I was getting no charge, so I checked the charging system and got a no charge result, which confirmed the alternator finally completely gave out. So I got a new alternator and a new battery and put them in and Voila! Everything is great. Also, when I pulled the alternator out, spinning the pulley on the front of the alternator it was making some loud squeaking sounds 🤔 I'm actually glad it was just the alternator, I was thinking it could also be a bad ignition switch but everything is great now.

on my 07 1.6 Im about to replace the timing belt, Not sure of previous owner did it so its overdue. ...... is there a way to simply CUT old timing belt & remove it carefully and install New belt without too many complications ? I was thinking ......... make sure Cranksfaft mark is lined up before cutting the belt .. then when ionstalling new belt,just have to make sure all 3 marks stay lned up as Im putting on new belt. Opinions ? Wish it were like Ford 2.0 where you can put a carpenters angle which fits perfectly tight into the end of both cam gears to garentee alingment then the gears CAN NOPT move when installing new belt. Why didnt Hyndai think of this ................ have a way of LOCKING the cam gears.

Hello... I have owned a 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu 350 car for over thirty years. It has an electrical issue that has caused problems on and off for years. The car runs good most of the time. It has been rebuilt with all high performance parts. The first time it just stopped running was many years ago. It just turned off. Stopped. For no reason. I turned the key to the off position and cranked it back over and it started and ran with no other issues for some time. Then some years later we came to find the ignition switch was failing. We changed it out to a brand new one. The old one was made of Bakelite. Inside we found green corrosion on all the contacts. Even a spider had found it’s way into it and made a cocoon. I was surprised it ran at all. The issue now is when driving at freeway speeds I see the needle on the volt meter jumping around. The headlights dim. But that was only for a few moments then it was fine again. Two weeks ago I was driving slowly through a parking lot and it kept trying to shut off. It would sputter and run, sputter and run. My air fuel ratio gauge kept re setting giving me an error code then going into element heater mode. It is a temporary intermittent issue that has me baffled. This is what has been changed on the car over the years to address the issue. New ignition switches changed twice. New battery’s. New battery cables. New alternators. 10 si three wire type. New external voltage regulators. Changed last week to a “Made in America” unit. I cut out the fusible link that comes off the horn relay that is the main power up wire for the dash. It goes into the fuse block on the firewall. It was a small plastic barrel shaped thing that was once probably transparent at one time but blackened with age and filthy. I cut it open. It looked like just a few strands of wire were still intact. There would be times I had no power at all. No dome light or anything. After I cut out that fusible link that hasn’t happened for a few years. New horn relay. Changed recently. A new horn. New ignition wire coming out of the fuse block to the distributor. The car died once. I jumped out popped the hood just in time to see smoke coming off that wire. Today I ran a thick ground wire from the frame to the body where I have the electric fuel pump grounded. That ground spot always seemed sketchy to me so today I addressed that issue. I've been trough a lot with this car over the years. To much really. Any guidance in addressing this issue would be greatly appreciated.
@Motorcarnut
@Motorcarnut Күн бұрын
It’s obviously an electrical issue. Make sure all grounds are good especially to the ignition system. Vehicles that old it can be anything really, hard for me to say without the car in front of me and knowing you did a lot of things that I would have did as well. You should never cut out any fusable links with replacing them. They are there for a reason. Where did that smoke come from under the hood?
@superfuntime3107
@superfuntime3107 Күн бұрын
The wire that goes to the distributor. It was originally a points style distributor but I have an H.E.I. unit now. I think it got hot trying to feed to much power to the H.E.I. It comes from the fuse block. I replaced it already. All that wire does now is trigger a relay for the M.S.D. - 6A ignition box. @@Motorcarnut
