Nine months feels like a long time for the plants to fill out compared to other 'scapes....or am I dreaming?
@StowerScapes14 күн бұрын
Several reasons for this; different plants grow at different rates, this tank was planted fairly scarcely to begin with so it took a while for it to fill out, it also underwent some fairly significant changes after a few months and had to 'recover'. I would say it was fully grown in after 3-4 months, but I wanted it to look its best for the video. (And I'm lazy, and it took me a while to get around to filming the final shots 😅)

Beautiful. Loved the simplicity. The use of different plants, which all had a grassy/spiky-leaf look, made it very cohesive.

Are they able to hold on to the wood with their roots after some time?

I've found they don't attach like an epiphyte does, but they do get all tangled up in the wood and stay in place 👍

How long does the wood last in a 'scape?
@StowerScapes6 ай бұрын
I usually reset the tank before it becomes an issue, but I have seen layouts as old as 20 years with the same hardscape. It is probably dependant on the type of wood, the water conditions, and the livestock in the tank, as some fish and invertebrates do graze on the driftwood.

Luckily, I saw the actual "Green Heaven" by Mr. Inoue at the ADA exhibition in Tokyo in 2021. It was truly a breathtaking piece of art and almost surreal, as it was just like a fantasy aquascape. I still remember the bright green tones that filled the entire tank, shining in crystal clear water. Your version is incredible, too! I heard Mr. Inoue and his team had difficulty controlling hydrocotyle growth as the plant grew freely everywhere. You managed that very well here, and I see those primary plants are from your region, and that even made the tank quite special for you! And I also like that you chose the Waterbox tank (I own their saltwater tank and love it). Great job! I've subscribed to your channel. Keep up the wonderful aquascape works! Cheers from New York, US.

Thats incredible you got to see the original! I'm so jealous! And yes the hydrocotyle is a nightmare to maintain. I've been trimming it every week, but i love the process of maintenance, so its hardly a chore 😁. Im very happy with the waterbox tank, very high quality glass and silicone work. Appreciate the sub, more to come soon!

I'm so glad I found your channel! Last week, I saw the MJ Aquascaping video where he gave a tour of Zoo Box in Germany. He showed a scape that was made to replicate 'Green Heaven'. I fell in love with it instantly. Then I saw the original build video from ADA. It's incredible. Then I saw the video Cory of ACO put out where he visits Zoo Box, and he showed off the replica tank. And now YT recommended your video. You did an amazing job, very impressive👏 I hope to some say take a shot at recreating this simple masterpiece.
