Great idea!! Only mod I would make would be to mount a pulley wheel on the back of the bucket so the cable can run along it practically eliminating the possibility of the cable rubbing on the bucket.

You may also consider raising the bucket and run the cable just below, if it snaps you will have protection. You could as well attach a snatch block and connect back to the tractor to ease the load on the winch. Just a thought, but safety comes first. And some reinforcement at the mount would serve you well. Stay safe while testing your design, cheers.

WOW! I've lived in Canada since 1989 and I have NEVER seen that much snow, EVER!!! I know some states get quite a bit more than Canada and I have been through Salt Lake City during a bad snowfall in Fargo North Dakota but I did not notice Utah being as bad as North Dakota. How exceptional is, this amount of snow, for Utah? Anyone? The reason I watched this is that I signed up for city sidewalk snow removal this year so I'm curious to see any tips and tricks. Thanks for the video!

Nice video. You did put a blanket on the cable in case it breaks but if it breaks somewhere in the middle, it could still come thru the windshield. If i had to stay in the tractor for steering, i would be ducking down.

They’re nice for scraping down to the pavement. Also nice when it only snows a few inches, snowblowers struggle when the snow isn’t deep enough. But yeah, the blower is the easiest way to avoid big piles of snow everywhere.

My Kubota dealer said tires chains on the front is a big "No-No" that leads to costly repairs. Front axle is the smaller weaker link in drive train.
@PilotChip
@PilotChip 5 жыл бұрын
Bob & Kim McDonald interesting, our dealer is the one that ordered them for us. It is very difficult to steer with the blower sitting on the ground without them. Haven’t had any issues in 3+ years.
@bobkimmcdonald6171
@bobkimmcdonald6171 5 жыл бұрын
@@PilotChip Interesting. I was told tractors only have brakes on rear tires so unless your in 4X4 the chains on the front would not assist stopping on ice. This was just a discussion topic at the dealers where I am trying to choose between B2601 & B2650 with the cab. I'm getting older and creature comforts are starting to take higher priority. I have no experience in the subject matter.
@PilotChip
@PilotChip 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah we’ve never had issues stopping, they’re more for steering and for getting up a little steep section of a driveway. It did pretty well without chains but once the tires had a little wear they really started to struggle on slippery hills.

I notice no soot accumulation on the back of the snowblower. Do you clean it after each use? Do you not have any accumulation? Soot accumulation seems to be a common issue with this set up, unless the exhaust is redirected and your appears to be factory pipe.
@PilotChip
@PilotChip 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom, when we first had the tractor we had a lot of soot accumulation. I decided to modify the exhaust slightly. You can sort of see it at 0:33 The stock pipe comes out from under the hood then goes straight for a little bit before bending outward toward the snowblower, I cut it off before it made the bend, then I had an exhaust shop bend a 90 degree angle in some of their tubing and stretch one end of it to just fit over the stock exhaust and clamped it on. Then I eyeballed where to cut into the 90 degree piece so the exhaust would shoot out away from the tractor without protruding too much. It has worked really well. I've also seen some people who build stacks but our mechanic worried that might cause too much back pressure.

Thinking about trading my 3 point blower in on a front mount like this for my b2650. Would it be worth it? Any thoughts?
@PilotChip
@PilotChip 5 жыл бұрын
Mike Zahnow not sure. I think I’ve read that the rear PTO puts out slightly more power. That being said the front PTO is adequate and I don’t have a sore neck from looking out the back too much. I can see how it might be nice to have the loader on the front but we do just fine with our setup.

It must be the high altitude but your tractor exhaust is making the snowblower blacker than mine even though mine does get a little Black but not that much!
@PilotChip

Ben Boudreau yeah we’re around 6,800 feet. How about yourself? I’ve since made a slight modification to the exhaust so it shoots out the side more than the front. The snowblower stays much cleaner!

Could you have gone faster? Seemed like that snow was pretty dense and not the fluffy stuff that snowblowers eat up. Nice video.
@PilotChip
@PilotChip 5 жыл бұрын
We're at a relatively high altitude and with no turbo the machine doesn't put out as much power as at sea level. I assume if it were at SL we could go a little faster. Don't want to overload it so we take it at different speeds depending on the conditions: depth of snow, weight of snow, etc...

Are you happy with the tractor and cab?
@PilotChip
@PilotChip 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah the cab has been fantastic. I'm not sure how well it interfaces with a backhoe attachment since we don't have one. My only gripe is that the tractor isn't turbocharged, but the turbocharged models require the restrictive emissions controls which sounds like they come with their own set of issues. That being said, we operate this between 6 and 7,000 feet and it is does pretty well.

Only with an instructor who is trained in stall/spin recovery training. If it's in fsx, I don't think it is very realistic when it comes to spins. But essentially you perform an uncoordinated stall (power idle, pitch back to the stall and add full rudder deflection, left or right)

@furtjager117
@furtjager117 12 жыл бұрын
The spin recovery procedure can vary from a/c to a/c. The PARE (power idle, ailerons neutral, rudder full opposite, elevator down to break stall/ up to recover) method works for most (if not all) Cessna trainers, while REAPR (Opposite rudder, elevator down, ailerons neutral, power idle, rudder neutralize) is used on the Piper Arrow.

I had my first Flight training in a DA-20 yesterday. It was awesome! The thought of doing an actually putting the craft into a stall is scary though it may be necessary. I would feel better and more skilled as a pilot personally if I had the actual experience of the stall/spin training just so I know what to do in case it actually does happen.
