PM64's Mushroom Kingdom is still the definite Mushroom Kingdom for me. It feels so much like an actual place. I always come back to it, mentally, when I imagine Mario going home after any of his adventures, jumping into that old pipe in Toad Town to take a well-deserved rest. What a special game.

That's actually pretty cool! I wish we had TTYD's instrument sample list, some games like Pikmin 2 and Super Mario Sunshine actually have the entire sound library including every single song instrument so you can just rip them from the game. Though the game with sequenced music wouldn't have been as good as it was.

After hearing this, I kinda want a remake of Paper Mario 64 for the remixed soundtrack alone. I honestly think this style of music would work for a PM64 remake a lot!

There is actually a mod in development where some people are remaking the graphics to modern Paper Mario style and they are even working on the music too! I recommend you check it out if you want your dream to come true.

Whenever I got grounded in middle and high school my parents would take away my GameCube and GBA SP. so I would grab my Singing Machine, hook up my “forgotten” N64, and play Paper Mario nonstop on a tiny, black and white screen. 😈 That Chapter 4 color puzzle was something in black and white… can’t tell you how many runs I’ve went through
