Thanks for sharing when you sing and strum your guitar, let us learn how to play easy songs like Eleanor Rigby using two simplified chords (C &E) and simple down strum patterns. It is better to sing in harmony while keeping in tune and 4/4 rhythm beat time. You can use any means to teach the chord changes as long as the person understand it.

@@guitar.forbeginners.withdave I have very eclectic tastes. I'm partial to varied styles. I'm wanting to write songs myself, and I could see myself incorporating a lot of bits and pieces from different genres. As far as musical styles, I would have to say 60s music and Brit-Pop (I'm an American though 🙂) are near the top of my list though. What do you like?
@guitar.forbeginners.withdave
@guitar.forbeginners.withdave 12 күн бұрын
We have some pretty similar tastes actually. Big fan of 60s stuff, in fact it was wanting to play all the Beatles songs that made me start learning many years ago. I like brit pop bit I think it's more a nostalgia thing, the 90s were a great time.

Something that might be a good idea is for you to focus on one area of playing until you are comfortable with the technique. So you could spend a few weeks focusing on getting the basic chord shapes to sound good when you strum some simple chord progressions. Then you could practise songs with those chords before moving into fingerstyle or other picking techniques.

Hi Dave, thank you so much! This is so great. Have been following classic guitar now for almost two years but my complete abscence of any note-knowledge has kept me back on having just fun making a nice sound on the guitar. I can play some unknow children songs note by note but nothing that would give me a desire to pick up the guitar. Your ‘one chord a day guitar tutorial’ is already doing that after only day 3 … I’m just catching up but wanted to let you know that I am very thankful I discoverd you on KZbin. Thank you.
