The best way to write diverse characters is to read diverse books written by diverse authors that contain diverse characters. And read diverse books from all of the genres. Like me, I would love to write a few novels with male characters, but I am not sure that I have the skills yet, so I am now reading books written by men with male characters. I usually stick to books written by women with female characters, so I have a lot of work to do.

That is a wonderful point. I actually have no idea if I've been reading diverse writers or not, but I should go hunting for some. ❤️

I used to jump onto the next book after another, and it does burn me out. It is best if we writers take a break in between. Like, longer breaks to refuel. You did an amazing job~ 🌻

Thank you so much! I have taken some down time this last week. I wanted to spend some time planning for 2025 and letting myself recover a bit. I'm looking forward to taking all of next week to cuddle my littlest one and play video games with my older kids and just breathe before jumping into Q1. I'm editing the book club book, but slowly ❤️

monthly dividers are great! I wish I could convince myself to go with two per a month but it's just too much management haha if you're writing down a bunch of books and happen to write down what was recommended I would also add who recommended it creating margins maybe? if you have so many notebooks that they're getting lost I'd recommend having a notebook that literally just tracks the notebooks I tried breaking everything down into precise sections in like 30 binders but once I got to roughly 950 sections I had to abandon the master list and only track the binders themselves Is the priority to build and maintain a community right now or just join a writing discord? Cause those are real... but idk if anyone actually talks in them haha btw it's really easy to see stuff on your desk

Oh wow, that's a lot of binders and a lot of sections! I'm not at that point yet, but thanks for the tip!

@@wanderingjourneyarts852 thanks for the instant reply! 🤯 It took several years for me to have so many sections haha sorry for showing up and just throwing recommendations everywhere but here I go again lol you could probably tackle the diversity and community aspects at the same time by talking to English Language learners there a lot of people who are basically already fluent but float around in free spaces like Language Learning Discords and all they want to do is talk to a native English speaker btw idk which tip you mean but thanks again!

This is such a cool idea! I love Sarra Cannon, and I've been wanting to do something like this for my own writing for a long time. I have a bunch of old Happy Planners that I could easily repurpose this way. Thanks for the inspo! (New sub btw!) 💖

Welcome back! Jumping onto different projects has always been my "thing" in writing. However, I did try not to do it because I wanted to focus on one project. But I have to say, having certain months where I write something else other than my main project keeps the creativity flowing. xx
