Christ is Risen! This is an interesting note - thank you. We stream our services with the blessing of our priest, mainly for those who, for various reasons, are unable to attend the services but still desire to participate in a small way. While streaming and actually attending are certainly different from one another, we invite all to come and visit our churches, whether they be Orthodox Christians or not, so publishing them online is not too separated. We certainly want to be careful about what we display, which is why the camera is moved during communion, for example.

Dearest friend . That’s a good question . I’m sure one of them can better answer you . But in my limited understanding : here’s my 2cents .. best as I know ( I’ll hopefully be corrected where appropriate !) today ( this service in the video ) in the Orthodox Church is Holy Saturday .. the day the Lord Rested in the grave then He broke the bonds of Hades freeing those who lay captive there …. Holy Saturday is The day before “Easter “ the next day when he later rose from the grave or resurrected- and it is the day after He was crucified on the Cross - Holy Friday The box is the funeral bier or tomb of Christ decorated with flowers . In the Orthodox Christian church there are certain days when members “Prostrate” their bodies along with their hearts and minds ( head to the floor ) if desired

Yes. The faithful (who physically are able to) make prostrations as they approach the place where a beautifully-embroidered silk cloth has the image of Jesus lying in His Tomb. His hands and feet show where the nails were. They kiss the book of the Gospels that is in the center of it, and His Hands and His Feet and then they take a step or two back and do one more prostration. They do not kiss the floor, but it does look like that in this low light. Such beautiful services. So rich in depth and meaning. The PASCHA service begins there about 11:30pm on Saturday. Will last a few hours.. it includes a PASCHA homily given more than 1500 years ago and read all over the Orthodox world one this glorious and holy night/morning. The most joyous night of the year ☦💝📿💝☦
