THE AREA IS SAFE ، BUT TO AVOIDE ANY SUPRISE THE AUTORITIES WANTED YOU BE IN A SECURE PLACE BECAUSE THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ZONE AND COUD BE QUESTIONED IF BAD THINGS HAPENED TO YOU.

Great video!!! The photo and the title are little confusing. By the way the old person on the photo is a local authority (Mokadem). He was there for your security because the campers can't set up anywhere without risk. The gentleman came to get information from you to find out if you're missing anything (according to what he says in Arabic).

learning few words to communicate with the locals is necessary , most of them were not in school , locals feel happy when you make efforts to connect with them..

Morocco is a beautiful country, I love Morocco. I'm from the anti-atlas region (but born and living in an european country). I've been there countless times, first time was in 1982. In Morocco everywhere you go, every village, every neighborhood, there is a _m'qdem_ i.e. a civilian who works with/for the authorities and reports anything suspect/unusual. It is not part of the culture and seen as weird to sleep in a tent in the wild. Locals would see it as a failure to do their duty which is to invite you, offer some food and a place where to sleep. The guy was worried about your safety.

Hi there, first of all, thanks for sharing your trip! You sure do it for a purpose; I mean, like to grow and generate an income and give something back in return. But I think most of your viewers will see that you worked your ass off to film all of the stuff. :) Carrying all the equipment extra. Replacing broken stuff, maybe paying for stuff that doesn't work like hoped ... Putting up the camera, driving 100m, and coming back to put it all back again in the bags. All of the editing, cutting, organizing tons of GB of footage, uploading it under the circumstances. Like taking 10 shots in different spots and just getting rid of them. But you had the work, and nobody really might see any of it. I am just guessing and don't really know how could I-right? And that's the point. I looked up your videos till this one. It makes the impression that you try hard not to show any negative aspects of the journey. And I find it really good that you at least mentioned more of the encounters that were not that fun too. FINALLY ;) You might hear from everyone, Do this, don't do this; it's dangerous, and so on. :) So I am kind of sorry for writing all of this at the same time, and be one of them :) But it's just a kind feedback. I wasn't in Laos (and the neighbouring countrys too) yet, but I hope that some of the unfriendly encounters you experienced might be the chaos of covid back then. I mean here in Germany the people went "crazy" back then, like getting more and more unfriendly and selfish because of the fear and insecurity everyone was in. I will go on a long bikepacking journey from Germany to Greece in Q3-25. I hope you didn't really quit forever (spoilered the title from the last videos), and I hope to see you on the road. If not - like i said. Thanks :)

I noticed that you guys are still using caliper brakes as opposed to disc brakes. That would also be my preference for simplicity. Wondering if you still agree and what comments you might have. Do you wind up wearing out your rims easily?

Thanks very much for all the effort you have put into creating this really well presented video. I do a lot of bikepacking abroad. Following recent events, I scoured reviews of my travel health insurance provider and found one horror story after another when people tried to make claims. Have you made, do you intend to make or are you aware of a good source (KZbin or elsewhere) which covers this. In future i am going to ride a lot more conservatively when riding abroad.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Sometimes even close to my home when I plan my trip on Google maps I get lost or in bad situations because some roads look nice on computers, but so hard and rash in reality.

Dear Wheels to Wander , I would like to ask you for advice. I have an old Specialized HardRock from the 90s in steel, I would like to use it for extreme cycling (Norway in winter) do you know the load capacity of this frame? How many kg can this frame? I will need to transport about 50 kg (110 lbs). Thanks and sorry for the English, I'm Italian. Luca

he says in 5:41 "I am Mkadem" Mkadems in Morocco are like "a help autority" who guard the zone and know everything about the homes in this zone ( for example if I want to build an extra floor in my home illegaly Mkadem will come and warn me ... or if I want to do a resident paper I have first to take acceptance from Mkadem who justify that yes I live there...)
