I am in the process of modifying my ART-13 with grid blocked keying to reduce the relay clatter. It's going to be semi break-in but I'm OK with that as a compromise. The relay clutter on a stock ART-13 is so loud that this WWII vintage break-in is useless to me. I have a small 28 VDC inverter package that makes about -130 volts to cut off the tube when RF excitation is not there. It mounts in the space where the LF oscillator would have been installed. The reason for making the blocking bias from the 28 VDC is I don't have to modify the U-7 plug connections.

The ART-13 as far as the amatuer radio world goes back to the 1950's when you could buy an ART for $25-$35. USD in New or Almost New condition. As kids we quickly found out that the ART has the AM Broadcast radio band!!!! So we just got a long wire antenna which we threw up a tree and we became the new AM radio Rock & Roll DJ or we used to compete with Sunday morning preachers Great fun. Hey, it was the wild and cool 1950's and we were tech brats so, this wasn't exactly the local ham radio club HaHa...

Do some "modifications" and put your station on the CB frequencies so we can some of the priceless obscenity laced FIGHTS that go on on the old 11 meters band. 😆😆😆🙂

In the 1950's you could buy a ART-13 In New or almost new condition for $25 to 35. It was axstep up from command sets. But as kids we soon found out that our father or uncle's ART also had Parts and in some models all of the AM radio band! So all we had to do is throw a long wire up a tree, and we instantly became a YHE Hot Rock and Roll DJ In thecyown or the neighborhood. Or sometimes we'd go back and forth "discussing" local girls, or on Sundays we used to get on and drown out the preachers...our parents or people we knew ho held FCC tickets amazingly caught on. I think the ART pushed out like 80 Watts. But some clearly put out over 100 Watts. We were always doing something. My friend found how he could "modify" a WRL 300 To make max TVI . THE ART could be detuned to make Pretty good TVI. Hey, what was you expecting nice well behaved novices or technicians HaHa this was the 50's and we were real tech brats.... Tell you what though those ART'S were designed and built like a Swiss watch. The Era of great American built rigs...

All these comments, in foreign languages, are funny. The truth is in the 1950's to mid 70's you could buy surplus ART-13's in New or nearly new condition for $25 to $35. They were a step up from the command sets. BUT when we were kids we quickly found out that our fathers or uncle's who held tickets ART's had the AM Broadcast band!!! So, when no one was looking, we could be throw a longbwire up a tree and become the new hot Rock and Roll DJ or talk about local girl's or drown out the preachers on Sundays saying we were the voice of evil...🤣🤣🤣 Before CB's and linear's etc there were the ART's to have our fun with.

How do you do. It's amazing Wireless equipent. I completely admire it. I am also scheduled to take a radio exam next month. i'm studying in a hurry right now, but to be honest, I'm about to give up. There are a lot of things to remember, and my head is overheating. There are three subjects in the exam: Radio Law, Radio Engineering, and CW, and I feel that my score has improved slightly. I'm looking forward to seeing more videos. I will also comment from time to time. After subscribing to the channel too…😁😁👍👍 🎌JAPAN🎌 more… Bureau=JK1ETH

Nice. I've yet to try mine on 40m, I usually operate on 5.262 MHz where it's not as crowded. On 80m rx stopped working, coil needs re-winding. Much modified and I made tx xtal for stability. G4GHB

Back in the 1950's ART-13 a new or next to new ART was like $25-$35. They were a step up from command sets. But as kids were quickly learned that ART'S had The AM Radio band. So we all got a long wire, threw it up a tree and when our fathers or uncle's who all had tickets weren't watching, we became the local R&R DJ or get on the air on Sunday and drown out all the preachers....one of my friends used to get on saying he was the voice of evil. Or we would have our own "talk show" about local girl's "attributes" or who's car was faster and inviting/ Instigating street races. All possible through that wonderful ART machine. One guy in our crowd invested a motor driven tuner which caused the His signal to sweep the AM Band so he was everywhere on the band. One time he had neighbors shouting out of windows network style for him to stop. Hey, it's was the 50's and we're normal tech brats, what did you expect some well behaved novice or technician nerds? HaHa.
