The initial gap on the pick up, according to the factory service manual, is .006, not .008. It says .008 is too big.

it's alot easier to remove the right hand cover for ease to work on the tnverter,only a few screws and then you'll be tempted to give it a good clean up as it's old and well used.

How difficult was it to get this going? I plan on using a holley sniper 2 barrel injection setup on my 68 slant 6 charger. Any tips?
@DrYosh22 жыл бұрын
It wasn't hard at all. Make sure you have a very solid grounding setup and a good ignition system. Keeps the electrical noise down that can cause interference with these type of units.

Could this be similar to the engine on a 2002 750?
@DrYosh23 жыл бұрын
That is going to be a bit different. 52° V angle instead of the 45° V in the earlier ones. I think they dropped a few features in the later 750s as well.

I am starting work on restoring a 83 Honda Shadow 750. I am having trouble removing the top two water pipes. The long one wiggles around but will not come up out of the hole. The short one will not budge at all. Do you have any advice on how to get them out?
@DrYosh23 жыл бұрын
Find a way to pry upward on them. Most likely, you have some stuck o rings. Mine weren't easy either. I used a silicone grease when reassembling them to help keep that from happening next time. Keep in mind too, they are fairly easy to find used on eBay. So don't sweat it too much if you damage yours.
@canoe-shelburne3 жыл бұрын
@@DrYosh2 I did try to pry every way I can think of with a fair bit of pressure and it wouldn't budge. I assume there is just a rubber o ring to seal it. I have a spare one and I see what it looks like. I don't understand what is holding it in therr
@DrYosh23 жыл бұрын
@@canoe-shelburne probably just the rubber o ring with a little corrosion around it. They tend to be that way.
@canoe-shelburne3 жыл бұрын
@@DrYosh2 seeing that it can be done and a bit more perseverance I got the long one out. The short one still won't budge at all. There is quite a bit of crap inside the hole of the one I got off

@eegg69543 жыл бұрын
This is a scary, filthy old beast. The connectors can corrode. The pins can be individually removed from the plugs and jacks, cleaned with a file or welding tip cleaner, retensioned and replaced in their plastic housings. The machines are a dog to take apart but well worth the work. Thanks for the video.

I want to do the same Did you notice big difference? Would you recommend efi or just go carb?
@DrYosh23 жыл бұрын
My EFI has been doing great. It's something you definitely need to plan out. Overall with the long runner intake, the headers/full exhaust with the EFI, it was a big power improvement over the tiny one barrel carb. And I picked up 1-2 mpg in town and on the interstate. Sounds a lot better too.

I have a old ford truck, and it has a slight miss at idle, and it has gotten worse over time, today I pulled the rotor bug off and noticed I can wiggle the shaft side to side a little bit
@DrYosh23 жыл бұрын
that'll do it. i had another distributor in my slant six that was a reman. same situation. loose bushing caused a single cylinder misfire only at idle.
@turbofiat4 жыл бұрын
Are there any weights inside a lean burn distributor? You say they were locked out. I think the computer has died on my 84 B150 and I was going to replace it with a GM 4 pin HEI module but I won't have any advance. Unless I replace the shaft with weights or the entire distributor.
@DrYosh24 жыл бұрын
Yes, the lean burn distributor was locked out. I can't remember exactly whether it had a straight shaft or if it just had a different upper half that didn't pivot. But you will need a 73+ electronic distributor for an HEI swap.

I remember using a timing gun on my 87 Chrysler Daytona. Whenever I did a tune up and replaced the spark plugs, cables, pvc valve and distributor cap I would also adjust the timing. As far as I know all newer vehicles use on board computers to automatically adjust the timing now so you can no longer do it maually. I also like the intro but can you film yourself coming out of the trunk of a car?
@DrYosh25 жыл бұрын
That Daytona should have had an ECU that controlled timing as well. Most 80s Chrysler vehicles had a spark control computer even if they were carbureted. Lots of vehicles into the 90s and 2000s with distributors were still adjustable. Even with multipoint EFI systems. If the ECU is looking for the distributor position for fuel and spark timing, you would still need to set the base timing as a reference. And I'm not going to jump out of a trunk of a car or the bed of a truck.
