I live here in Craig and I'm sorry but this video is so bad. All it shows is the water front and the old cannery, thats it. Oh and a float plane landing. This little town is so beautiful and the surrounding area. It's lame to lead people to think this is all it is.

Randy TheRam, It's a scientific fact people with boats automatically know how to cook crab better? Lol... I'm guessing you're joking. I know people who have boats but don't live near the ocean or those who don't care for seafood. Anyway, I have to agree with the guy who said you shouldn't kill and clean prior to boil. However, I believe you can kill and clean prior to steaming and the crab is great! I also don't feel this guy in the video boiled long enough. He had anyway 7lbs of crab. I would have boiled longer...but I could be wrong.

From what I'm seeing on KZbin, today's roller skaters seem to be abandoning sit spins in combination with their camels. Heels and inverteds are awesome, but I think skaters need to go back to being more well rounded in their spinning. Also, in long programs spins should be spread out and not two quick ones at the end of the routine. It's difficult to come out of a long spin combo and then go right into a difficult jump (judges should recognize this), but past skaters were able to pull this off.

@bergek2 10 жыл бұрын
Im not sure if you are an ice skater or more familiar with that sport... however, in roller skating, the sit spins aren't as common anymore because they aren't worth the points that a heel, broken ankle or an inverted are worth. If you go to the world championships, you will see maybe one in the short program because it is required and then after that, you won't see much other than a ton of camel variation spins... not because maybe the skater doesn't want to do a sit spin, but because the point value isn't there. The sport has changed a lot in the past 10 years.

bergek2 The emphasis has definitely changed from the 80s and 90s and I realize the skaters must do what gives them the most points and what is appealing to the judges at the time. It just seems like sit spins are a part of free skating and it's odd not seeing them any more. But at least they are still required in the short program, as they should be.

Nah, unfortunately he makes the same mistake pretty much everybody on KZbin makes. You might notice he's dropping shelled and gutted crab clusters in the pot as opposed to the entire crab. You want to cook the crab whole, then shell it after. It's quicker, cleaner, and results in better quality meat. You never want to expose the meat directly to moving water as it will rinse out a lot of the goodness of the meat. You wouldn't rinse a steak, so why would you do the same to a crab?
@canonphoto
@canonphoto 8 жыл бұрын
TheIrishEnigma well you wouldn't cook a steak while it's still in a whole cow either so that's the dumbest analogy I've ever heard! I get what you're saying but I know when I go to the beach with friends we clean them as well as there's lots of people that think the guys etc ruin the taste.

I did notice. He does it the same way I do it. I've lived in San Francisco, Portland, Oregon, Bremerton, Wa and Juneau, Alaska and have caught crab in the ocean in all of those places. I've cooked crab both ways and prefer by far doing it this way. I don't like the idea of putting the crab into a cold water bath or rinsing off the gunk from the crabs insides as it also washes off the salt. Doing it this way eliminates the yellowish brown gunk from the meat. But I have a great idea......you do it the way you like it and I'll do it mine.

BTW.....I don't know where this guy lives but here in Oregon the limit is 12 per day per license with 3 pots per person. We generally set 3 pots for the boat and catch all we can use.

Great video. Best part is the use of the "war bat." I have a feeling the first time I give the crab a shot to the abdomen, I will not have the same effect of instant death that you achieved. But, I'll give it a try! Thanks.
