I keep my shotgun loaded with nickel plated #2 buck. It seems to be a happy medium. It's not available (that I've ever found) in 12 gauge so I have to load it myself. I load 15 pellets at 1200 fps which is a light recoil load. The patterning and gel tests suggest it should do a great job.
