MILLION QUESTIONS ABOUT JET PROGRAM I'm an aspiring JET applicant, from the Philippines, and I got a lot to ask. Perhaps, you can pick some and share with me (as well as for other aspirants.) 1. Did you write your SOP literally by yourself? Or did you ask help from others? A "ghostwriter" maybe where you dictate and that person improves everything? Or did someone else write if for you - after getting all the info he needed? 2. How did you fare on your interviews? 3. I have an asthma - which area in Japan is best for me? 4. I've undergone angiogram recently (luckily, the clog disappeared) so I didnt have to have angioplasty anymore - will this be an issue? Do you have medical condition too? 5. How 's the status of crimes, race, safety, wellness, bullying, harassments, and such if there are? 6. Is one allowed to drive there? Or have own vehicles like car, or motorcyle? 7. How's your accomodations? (Follow up: I've read about accomodation issues and dishonesty here.) 8. Is your net income enough? For your expenses, especially after sending some to your fam back home? 9. What's the good and bad thing about your school and your area? 10. What did you do on your teaching demo? How did you do it? 11. How do you find other ALTs? That's all I can think of right now. I might be adding some more. Thank you so much in advance and Maraming Salamat Po!

Hi! Thanks for your questions, I'll answer them the best I can. 1. Yes, I wrote my SoP by myself. I did, however, have my 2 references proof read my SoP and give me feedback on how to make it more cohesive. 2. Personally I felt as if I didn't do well, but I managed to get short-listed right away, which I guess means I did well (haha) 3+4. I also have asthma but I didn't have any issues in Kumamoto. This will vary to the severity on your asthma and the area you'll be placed in though. This is the only medical condition I have besides allergies. 5. Japan is known to have a very low crime rate. As a woman I felt safe walking alone even at night. 6. You are allowed to drive in Japan but you will need an IDP and you will have to research about getting a vehicle because of payments like Shaken and others. 7. Please refer to my JET Apartment tour as I go into detail about pricing and location etc. Also note this is very ESID. 8. During the time I was on JET, JPY was not so low. I did find my income sustainable for myself and my living expenses. I also didn't need to send any money so everything I earned was for myself. 9. My opinions will be very different as I was a COVID-JET and have a very unique experience. Good thing was I was really close to my schools, bad thing was too many restrictions during COVID and state of emergencies. 10. The teaching demo I believe is exclusive to Philippine JETs only. As a Canadian JET I didn't need to do one. 11. This will also depend on your personality and the personality of others. I was really lucky to have a great batch coming into JET and all my senpais were so helpful too.

Very nice talk, definitely Genki 1 & 2, and then I find Tobira Gateway is ideal to move towards intermediate... I love its ticker-tape of new Kanji at the bottom of each page. For Kanji, a slow process, I find it best to learn through sentences. Keep it up, very nice posts.

What bachelor did you have when you signed up for the JET program?
@RoamingRosabella2 жыл бұрын
Education! I'm from Canada so I don't think it really mattered which degree you had for JET. For other consulates/countries they did require you to have a teaching license, hence people from those countries were expected to have an Education degree. Hope this helps!

I actually thought you’d be less than 90% Filipino, i thought there’s a high percentage of white lineage. Honestly, you look like mistiza or partly Filipina. I am surprised you got 98.8% Filipino/Austronesian 🤭

Hi Rosabella, have u dated much in Japan? Is it easy to date? Thx:)
@RoamingRosabella2 жыл бұрын
Hi!! I actually haven't dated in Japan but I do have friends who are currently dating right now. It seems as if your standard dating apps are fairly common (Tinder, Bumble, Pairs) when trying to find a partner. As a foreigner I would be weary though, some of my friends' experiences seemed to be more flings rather than anything long term. Hope this helps!

Did you have to be fully vaccinated against covid to work with JET? Love your stuff also
@RoamingRosabella3 жыл бұрын
Interestingly enough Japan did not require any vaccination proof before coming. All they needed was a negative PCR test 72 hours prior to boarding and negative PCR results during our hotel quarantine stay. Hope this helps!

@@RoamingRosabella yeah my friend lives in Japan and they haven’t made it mandatory over there. In my home country it’s mandatory to have the jab in any job. So That’s pretty interesting about Japan. Keep safe :)

Rosabella, do u find it hard to stay home a lot bc ur place is so small? Like, do u prefer to go out instead? Thx:)
@RoamingRosabella3 жыл бұрын
I find my place quite cozy actually so I like staying in it! The only thing I wish I had was a bigger kitchen space for more cooking. Going out, especially being in the city, is a lot of fun though so I like having a balance of both :)

The Indian heritage is not surprising! Malaysia/Indonesia used to be Hindu kingdoms. Plus the Chola Dynasty from southern India (who I coincidentally speak the same language as) sailed to the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia to trade with, in the locals.

Thanks for sharing your results. 23andMe is incredible isn't it? It also connects you to relatives! I thought you could have been probably 1/4 southern European; super cool results you got. I also took the DNA test! Turns out I am 67% African, 30% European, and 2% Western Asian and North African. It also says I got a little Neanderthal in me! Which I thought was pretty cool! Hope all is well with you and great video.

upload your results to GENMATCH.COM you might get surprised what they find..I saw filipino with same results as you then after GENMATCH he found indian and northeast asians about 10 % and trace eastern european genes with about 1.2 % jewish ashkenazi

based on looks alone you are far from looking like 98 % austronesian and filipino. embedded within your austranesian and filipino genes are chinese and japanese dna but european oriented dna test like 23 me is not sensitive enough to seperate them..try chinese based dna cmpanies

Hello. I liked your content a lot! I've been trying to look for KZbin video similar to yours that explains the ideas in this KZbin video. The part at 1:08 is my fav. Your video really is like the videos of this awesome medical student Dr Ethan! Dr's tips are helpful and he actually helped me a lot on my studies. I suggest you watch his YT out and give the Dr a like! ➡️ #DoctorEthanWellness
