I guess, it's about 45% the tires, 45% the driver and 10% the car, whether you can go in any condition up or down a mountain road ;-) Without good tires (no grip), not even a 4WD old classic Jeep can go anywhere on a snowy hill road ;-) The driver needs to know what he is doing. Well and the car just needs to be good controllable, not a children toy car with just full forward, stop, full reverse controls, then you can do it ;-) And all cars are good enough. Except maybe RWD cars with the weight in front (some petrol or diesel cars ;-) People really have loaded heavy weights in the trunk to get up a snowy hill road. And EVs have the weight more in the center and low in the car, that's better. And for an awd Tesla, I see no problem. Use good winter tires, know how to drive. Stay comfortably good within the limits of phyics and oncoming traffic (stay in your lane!). And that's it.

Also watch the youtube video from years ago titled "winter driving redefined" which was a early model s owner in norway using it around in the snow and mountains with no issues. The abilities of the traction control make more difference than anything else. Plus the amazing 50/50 even balanced weight distribution.

Yes, Thank you for your testing your RWD Tesla in snowy conditions. Great camera work also with the Drone. I have the Model Y AWD and feel I should have no problems in Snowy weather where I live in the US. Some years we get allot of snow, other years not so much. Also get allot of icy roads here in Chicago area. Thanks for the video. Take care.

Have a model Y for two winters in eastern Canada, here are few more tips. First year the had issues with all windows freezing and being unable to open doors, but second winter I did put: WD-40 Specialist Water Resistant Silicone Lubricant on all rubber parts(especially outside ones) and it prevent water/ice to stick on the rubber. This is working perfectly for me. Need to apply each years. I used a rag to prevent overspary. Secons tip :The front part of the handle can be pushed down and it usually break the ice so you can use it as usual instantly. Paired with a bit of the silicon on the moving parts of the handle, both "issues" are not even a concern anymore.

How does it differ from any other silicon spray?
@marcantoineroussel7 күн бұрын
@@jensthaysen there are many alternatives that may work, this one happen to be easy to find here and not too expansive. They should all have silicon as the base ingredient, the % and additives will probably be what change. Silicon should be water resistant by definition, but this one I guess they added something else to make it even more water resistant.(they also have a version without the water resistant marking) You just really want to make sure it's compatible with rubber, plastic and vinyl.
@marcantoineroussel7 күн бұрын
Just one thing, you might want to apply it on a clean and dry rubber seal. The bottom part of the glass also had silicon on it since it rub on the seal, I left it there just in case it helps. I guess it might annoy some of the glass are no cristal clear from end to end and water bead differently in that portion. You can probably clean it, else it will go away with time anyway.

How about cornering? I just got from a 2019 AWD to a 2022 RWD and notice it behaves different in cornering on dry roads (understeer, changing to oversteer when accelerating. I am bit scared it will understeer to much when going into a corner and try to slow down. When the front weels block, you go straight.. with the AWD version one could always rely on the front motor making the front wheels turn again

I needed this video cause RWD Long Range is the sweet spot for Range / Price
@LJgoesSweden16 күн бұрын
I also would have bought the RWD Long Range, if I would had the option back then. With the standard range, I already achieve 500km of range in summer, so 600+ are realistic with the Long Range. And the NMC battery is also better in winter. Do you know which sound system is built in the Long Range RWD?
@maxbuc115 күн бұрын
@@LJgoesSwedenit's the normal one. I ordered it one month ago. It's exactly the same as the standard RWD except the battery (and the power output). It was rumored that LR RWD had premium audio and alcantara, that's not true, it was confused with AWD by someone

@@LJgoesSweden LR RWD has standard 9 speakers, only AWD has 17, how's your audio system on RWD? out of 10?
@LJgoesSweden15 күн бұрын
@maxbuc1 The premium audio system is the thing that I miss the most, it’s bad that they don’t have that as an option. Or just have premium no matter what version :(
@LJgoesSweden15 күн бұрын
@test-ob7rq I have experienced the premium system only during my overnight test drive but it was great. Regarding the RWD, I think the more I am used to to it the more I feel it lacks some bass. In numbers I would say a 7/10 maximum, but it also depends on the audio source. I mainly listen to Spotify and I have heard that the internal Spotify app does not support the best audio quality Spotify offers, but not sure if that has been updated.

Great test 👍 I have the same experience with RWD in the snow. Have both a Model Y RWD and a Model 3 AWD. AWD is obviously better in the snow, but because the Model Y has more room for the family we barely use the Model 3 anymore - even when its snows.
