Great/helpful video. If you loosen the filter housing all the way and just leave it in and then go below, all of the oil will drain and you don't have to go back and forth. And** when you come back to remove the filter, it wont' drip everywhere. Agree on no additives and LMoly is really hype. Better options, even TPT 5-30 is better.
@bavhaustv9795Ай бұрын
@@louknapp4257 Thanks for the feedback! I think there’s some engineering features on the new b/s5x engines that keeps oil from filling the filter housing in general as opposed to previous bmw generations. From my experience you can pull them out without making a huge mess almost always. The ceratec is hit or miss depending on who you talk to. I’ve personally taken apart a high milage motor that was treated with the additive for the majority of its life and saw positive results. Others call it snake oil. I stick to the mos2 antifriction for my own cars. I like liquimoly oils for stock engines. I typically use motul for highly modified cars. -Mike

This is a great video, you are a true mechanic by properly diagnosing the vehicle keep up that type of work. That's what separates you from the rest. I watched the series and couldn't figure out how did you quickly decide that it was the Camshaft or Fuel injector... was it because compression was fairly good at 120? I'm a little dumbfounded on how 120 came up if the valve isn't opening all the way there should be a better PSI reading or at least the same as the other cylinder since air has less escape paths.. My engine cylinder 3 is reading 65 PSI would you jump to the same conclusion? I have inspected the cylinder head and they look sealed properly along with the valves

You don’t have to remove anything in the engine bay just have to be good at working in areas you can’t really see. The perfect size extension socket and swivel is all you need. Same with the MHD engine bay flex fuel kit goes right back there as well did it all by feel. The way it’s designed you can pull the filter out without any oil dripping from it which is a plus. Start with loosening the filter and draining the oil after it’s done draining you should be good to go. If you are pushing the car hard I’d recommend 0w40 or 5w40 as well just depends on your power level and time of year winter or summer I’m at around 800 crank hp.
