As others have said, I'm glad Blackie made it to old age. I remember a video of him completely wasted in a swimming pool decades ago. It may have been one of those rocks stars are satanic videos. Content of songs aside, I loved the guys voice. Charisma is one of my favorite songs from them. As for being evil. I'll say a band like WASP does a lot less damage to society, if any, than most rap and pop and even "modern country" band. In some cases they literally do rituals on stage... worse than Fleetwood Mac did on stage lol

Realize that Blackie already had a career PRIOR to W A S P. He played guitar and bass for the New York Dolls in the 70’s. Yea, he’s old, but still a legend.

I could listen to these old rockers tell stories all day. These days it’s sometimes better than listen to them trying to sing… although Blackie still does well it seems!

8am back around 1985, Kalamazoo, MI. Downtown Hilton Motel. I hear a scream and an absolute Wildman comes running at me at full speed heading for the escalator. It's a 3 story tall one. It's Blackie Lawless and he jumps on the handrail on ONLY his ass, NO HANDS and rides the black rubber handrail to the bottom literally on only his ass. Jumps off, still at full speed and runs out of the double doors screaming. I was around 15 at the time and only one other person experienced that craziness! Too fast to grab his autograph. Thanx for the memory. 100% True!!!

I love this story. I met Cliff shortly before his passing. He was at an ACDC concert at the Cow Palace in SF. He was by himself. I asked if he was Cliff and he said yes. He seemed like a shy, really nice guy. I was such a huge fan of Master of Puppets, I could not imagine him being so humble. Myself and my buddies shook his hand and went about our business, high-fiving in disbelief about what just happened. The news maybe a couple weeks later was really shocking and sad. IMO Metallica was never the same without Cliff.

Another... even funnier!!... story that occurred during this tour with Wasp and Metallica (and one that Blackie has apparently & conveniently "forgotten" about)... was that Blackie is said to have had a bit of an attitude towards the other bands that he and Wasp were touring with and Blackie would often go out of his way to avoid them... initially out of arrogance, but later, out of embarrassment. The story goes that when Wasp was on stage at a particular show, some loyal Metallica fan was down in the crowd but very near to where Blackie was on stage and was holding up a sign that read, "Blackie Ball-less Sucks!!"... again, very near to where Blackie was. Blackie apparently took issue with that and spit down at the offending fan... and the fan immediately returned fire and spit right back (which, the story goes, was a big, nasty loogie from hell)... which hit Blackie square in his face. The members of Metallica and the other opening bands were standing just off stage and apparently saw everything... and were absolute roaring in laughter. Needless to say... Blackie really went out if his way to avoid Metallic and co. after that😂
