I don't celebrate Christmas because it is a pagan festival to worship the sun god, "Mitra". Everything about it is pagan - the tree, balls, lights, decorations, presents, yule log etc. are all in celebration of the pagan Sun God, “Mitra”. Anyone can do a study on this and find out for themselves. Early Christians did not celebrate this pagan festival. You cannot Christianize a pagan holiday! God told us to remember Jesus death and resurrection not his birth -1 Cor 11:23-26. The word "Christmas" is not found in scriptures neither did God give Jesus' date of birth. However, I thought that the teaching about the prodigal was very good and touched my heart profoundly! Thank you Pastor Jeremiah Oei!

We understand your point of view. We held this service because we found out that many backslidden believers and even nonbelievers would likely only attend church once a year, and that is for the Christmas service. Many nonbelievers are attracted to come to the Christmas service. What other time is better than this to reach out to lost souls? Hence you see that my message is for this cause. Paul, in Acts 17:16-34, even went to Aeropagus, where statues and idols were placed, to reason with the nonbelievers. He tried his best to preach to them so that they would come to know Jesus. As a result of his ministry there, a number of people were saved. In fact, we spent quite a sizable sum of money for this occasion to reach out to the people. If you followed the whole service, you would have heard the testimony of our sister Charli: how she was delivered from New Age beliefs and was completely transformed. Perhaps you weren't aware that many were touched and shed tears during the service. So let us have a different mindset. Let us go beyond this discussion of pagan origins because I believe that God has the heart for the lost souls. This is the best opportunity to bring the prodigal sons and daughters and nonbelievers to Christ. If you have been blessed by this ministry, please prayerfully consider supporting it financially because our rent will increase next year. Thank you and God bless you. ~ Pastor Jeremiah

@@balicelebrationpraise I am not against preaching the salvation message to the lost on any day including Christmas. That is what our church does too nor am I against holding a fellowship lunch or dinner. How does putting up a tree with decorations and presents teach truth about this day? All those things are clearly pagan in origin and celebrating the Sun God. Isn't the Holy Spirit called the Spirit of TRUTH? Isn't Jesus the Way, TRUTH and Life? Doesn't it say that it is impossible for God to lie? So what is the "Spirit" behind "Christmas" which is a word not even found in the bible? God never gave us the date of birth of Jesus and told us to celebrate it on 25 December! He told us to celebrate his death and resurrection through holy communion - 1Cor 11:23-26. James 4:4 says, "Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God." Jesus is not coming for a compromising Christian but a bride without spot or wrinkle - Eph 5:27.
