This is going to be my first foray into 433 with Home Assistant. Thanks for the tips!

Just adding my 2 cents on this. I have the same fan and it wouldn't start. Pulled the guts out of it and ended up disassembling the fan unit by straightening the metal tabs that hold the lid on, removing the fan and completely cleaning it out with a brush and soapy water. Then blew out everything with compressed air, cleaned off the excess lint and sprayed WD40 in the fan assembly towards the main shaft and bearings. Worked that in with some pliers turning the shaft until is spun freely. Cleaned off the excess WD40, put everything back together and it's running quiet and sucking like new.

I used a plug mounted current sensor on washer and dryer , below 11mA current in my case i know it's on standby and the cycle is done and it pings our phones. " Alexa good night" turns off those appliances at the end of the day too
@denesk27945 күн бұрын
Hello, yes. Aqara vibration sensor. Or, depending on how much power your washing machine uses, you could use any smart plug (just have it on all the time). From there: vibrates: washing in progress. Vibration stopped for X minutes, washing is finished. (accounting for a soaking cycle, that might only stir the clothes every 5 minutes). Pretty much the same with the smart plug. If it consumes more than what it does idle, and it's happening, then not happening for X minutes -> cycle is finished.

Your video shows using "ZeroTier" but how about using tailscale? My initial attempts are failing, even though I can use my Tailscale IPs to remotely talk to each server from each site. I am wondering if there's more tailscale config to do?
@GerardoPascucci3 күн бұрын
i use cloudfare, but i think is the same. After hour i fix easy, set host without , and rembember to use correct port (443 if use https). Good Luck
@SteveJones172pilot3 күн бұрын
@@GerardoPascucci Thanks - I ended up using Tailscale to route the entire subnets between the locations. I could get tailscale to work for me to remotely get into the web GUI but the remote_homeassistant addin refused to connect over it. Now that it is just another routed network between the nodes, it connects.. Now, while it is connected, I dont have any devices showing up between the two sites, so I need to research that.. Haven't had enough time to think about it let alone work on it, but my understanding that it would automatically put all the remote site devices into my local HA with the prefix attached doesn't seem to have been accurate! :-) This is a whole different issue though..

with the easy method mention, LED is only On when you manually operate the switch on the cig adapter. with the hard method, the LED is only On when the trunk is opened. if closed, no light.

hey have u got any idea on how to do this without a zigbee hub but with a hue bridge hub ? ( i have homeassistant running on a raspberry pi )
@iwillgettableflipped9 күн бұрын
Doesn't work. Hue bridges only work with zigbee lightlink, aka zigbee lights, or philips hue's own sensors. Other brands of sensors will simply not be discoverable by hue bridges.
@vrenli72248 күн бұрын
@@iwillgettableflipped Oh ok thx for the answer. So i have to buy a zigbee hub or a zibgee dungle for my home assistant right ?
@iwillgettableflipped6 күн бұрын
@@vrenli7224 Yeah just buy a USB zigbee dongle. Doesn't have to be expensive. I personally use a $10 aliexpress one with ZHA, works fine, super easy. Don't forget to pair all of your hue lights to the zigbee dongle to improve the zigbee network for your sensors. I should also note that it has seemingly been documented by some people that this particular presence sensor can slow down a zigbee network significantly by sending data too frequently. I can't verify this, but keep it in mind when choosing presence sensors.

I'm using one of these Coral TPUs on one of the micro HP 800 PCs that has two NVME ports and a SATA port. Truthfully, the BI server is running as a Proxmox VM on that machine with the Coral TPU set as a PCI-E passthrough. It runs the same speed as my old dedicated Windows PC i5 setup with an Nvidia GTX960 running the AI. All less than 20ms detection time on 5 cameras. Just be very cautious which Coral TPU you get to match the PCI-E slot for your NVME. I did have to get the Single-TPU model as no Multi-TPU was available for my NVME slot.

I find that when you are sorting the cables the most effective way is to pinch them between your finger and thumb about 3/4" from the end. Once they are sorted trim those cables back about 1/4" from the end. You should be left with 1/2" of sorted cable that you can either put into a comb or a pass through connector. 60% of the time it works every time.

I believe UEFI is needed. There's old and there's real old. A PC, laptop or desktop, might be too old and the BIOS isn't UEFI. Had a 12 year old Toshiba laptop that was too old. I think Chrome OS Flex might still be not as capable as Chrome OS. I think I came across something that mentioned that. I think this is a great way to extend the life. That Toshiba laptop couldn't handle Linux either. The main issues are the internet. The data transfers are so dense these days these machines can't handle it. I ended up taking the Toshiba screen off the laptop, bought some Chinese circuit boards off of EBay and turned it into a monitor. Mostly, because I wanted to see if I could do it. Now, that being said, there's FydeOS. A fork of ChromiumOS. More "Linux"ish but looks like Chrome OS. I've tried it with a Live USB on a laptop. My biggest issue was an external monitor. It was a mess. That might not need UEFI, but don't really know. I have installed ChromeOs Flex on a 8-9 year old BeeLink about 4 inches square. The internet on it was hopeless with Windows. Back when new it wasn't bad. Very useable with ChromeOs Flex. If you have enough ram, ChromeOS + ChromeOS Flex let you add Linux in Developer mode. I've run MS Edge on a Chromebook. Microsoft has a Linux version. Also, LibreOffice and Gimp. A bit slow, but perfectly adequate.
